A lot of the comments are about the scam and not about what you should do to help your father.

Make him aware that it's a "romance scam" and that this was set up from the beginning for money. Tell him what to expect and hopefully when this person finally starts with the money requests he will remember what you said and understand for himself what is happening.

Second, the biggest concern would be his inability to get out of the situation and feeling pressured in the moment to give an answer or send money. I don't specifically have a recommendation for how he can avoid this, but generally it's best if people have their own transportation and can leave at any time.

Also, I would stay in touch with him frequently. He is interacting with this person. Talk on the phone several times a day. It's going to be impossible for him to walk away unless you can help him.

That's really interesting. I read it couple of times. I can see that a person that presents like this wouldn't raise an alarm as someone who can't be trusted. It's also interesting that he says he was standing in the street in plain view with reflective safety stripes, while the guardian article says he was firing from the woods.

These people really fucked up. It's one thing to go and protest, to stand in the way of unjust cruelty. Vandalizing and destruction of government property is not good but it's forgivable. Do a few months in jail and go back to your life.

Where they fucked up is that one of their group is hiding in the woods with a rifle, and he shoots someone. They must have known this guy was going into the woods with the rifle... If they didn't know then I feel sorry for them but if they knew then they really fucked up.

Healthcare is such a basic human right. Single payer for all (Medicare) should be our priority. The wealthy look at everything as theirs. Anything that needs to be done in society is "why should I pay for that?" I have a friend who makes a lot of money and he said that people who work hard should be rewarded and I asked him if he meant people who work hard or if he meant people who earn a lot of money and he didn't know what to say.

I don't understand how Israel can create this humanitarian crisis and then prevent aid from helping. I just went to Oxfam's website to see what they are doing and where donations are going and they've only been able to provide about 6,000 food parcels because Israel won't allow aid workers to have access. As human beings we have a moral obligation to save humans from dying needlessly but Israel is doing this on purpose. They don't deserve this, it doesn't make sense.
