Anon likes cooking

cooking isn't feminine; it's like basic self-care. every man should cook.

i don't care if this is a joke. it's fun to fuck with people on social media but at least show some class and promote healthy attitudes.

Border cops detained me for hours without explanation. They won’t tell me why.

the reason for it is implied by looking into who he is and what he does. he's not only a journalist but:

Matthew Petti is an assistant editor at Reason and a proud New Jersey native. He has previously reported for the BBC (in Persian and English), The Intercept, The Daily Beast, New Lines magazine, Responsible Statecraft, Middle East Eye, and The National Interest, among other publications. Matthew covers U.S. national security policy and its interactions with American society and domestic politics.

that's not to defend anything that went on. but we know why he was detained.

Whistleblower Says Mark Zuckerberg Is Only Pretending to Care About Child Safety

if you take away their wealth what have most of these celeb billionaires accomplished? zuck created a website that got popular that wasn't even the first of its kind. it was just popular...

and if it disappeared tomorrow i wouldn't give two fucks. humanity survived for thousands of years without facebook and instagram and it hasn't been a benefit to society. it didn't solve a problem that needed to be solved--we already had myspace and photobucket and the local classified ads.

why are we treating rich people like celebrities just for being rich, especially ones who don't impact your life in any positive way? that's the real issue.

i never knew who the CEO or creator of gillette was even though i shave my face every day. that guy deserves more recognition.

Do you think UBI will be the future of the world?

no lol.

have you ever met a rich person? like a real rich person? they're arrogant and snobby and think the rest of us have no right to exist. there's a reason there's this massive push to implement AI. part of it is to save money but the other part of it is that they legit think that we're all lesser and AI replacing call centers and fast food jobs will hasten our departure.

we'll all end up being thrown in a volcano before they implement UBI.

i'd say asia has more of a chance in the long run just because social responsibility is part of culture and that can often act as an antidote to the worst parts of capitalism. south korea can be gross but at least they throw their corrupt leaders in jail...

no chance of this happening in the states.

It's about logic and not "feelings"

it doesn't say what the people need the money for.

if both of them need the cash to pay the IRS delinquent taxes i'd say the girlfriend takes precedence if you're in a committed relationship. if the bro needs the money for a righteous cause and the girl needs the money for consumerism, then the bro wins out.

that's a bad punchline that's against community spirit. you don't have to be a communist to help people in need, and lack of empathy/compassion should be discouraged in a healthy society. jesus fucking christ.

Americans who say they drink alcohol remains at record low, survey finds

From 1997 to 2023, at least 60% of Americans reported drinking alcohol. The figure fell to 62% in 2023 and to 58% in 2024, before reaching 54% today. Prior to the most recent poll, the rate has been under 60% fewer than 10 times, including 58% in the initial 1939 poll and a one-time low of 55% recorded in 1958.

"weird" that usatoday leaves all this important information out lol. "record lows" still means half the population are boozers and the number was never much higher.

Stop the gaslighting

the objects in mirror may be closer than they appear fucks with me. my family ran a junkyard, and as a child/teen, i was always hanging out within its borders and exploring old cars and trucks for treasure. that form of the phrase is burned in my memory. you'll never convince me it wasn't something that existed.

i was taught to spell dilemma as dilemna too, but that may be explainable. it's not like every old textbook from the 80s is on annasarchive.

you can do whatever you want--you just have to be willing to pay the price. even someone living check-to-check could go back to school if they were willing to work 20 hours a day and possibly live in their car.

....just at the hope of having a house in the suburbs lol.

here's my perspective as an old man: unless you have enough money to NOT WORK for the rest of your life or are on the track to retire much earlier than 65, you don't really have shit. at least nothing worth feeling superior about.

you do however have dreams and passions that could possibly be fulfilled despite your financial situation.

the person in the OPs story is just driven by justice and possibly revenge. but it's not as big a deal if you frame it like that.

Thatcher famously said "the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money", but isn't it the best way to describe billionaires in late stage capitalism?

why do you need money?

if money disappeared, the workers would still be there, the factories would still be there, there'd still be trucks and ships and oil and houses and crops and whatever else sustains our existence.

you'd think if humans were as smart as they claim they are they'd come up with a solution that doesn't involve paper and credit and oppression.

i think your average person would be totally willing to put in 20 hours a week pumping shit out of septic tanks if they spent the other hours chilling and just doing whatever.

Cops get paid 6 figures for this

why is this even a concern?

this seems like a law that was only put on the books to protect rich people. if you drop a wad of money on the ground for whatever reason then the person who picks it up shouldn't be a criminal no matter what they do with it.

we're taught the merits of rugged individualism and social darwinism and 'fuck you got mine' but then we're supposed to care about someone dropping a $10 bill on the ground no matter what the reason? we're supposed to 'do the right thing?'

lol fuck off.

Mark Zuckerberg buys 440-acre Strancally castle estate in Ireland

i just think it's funny a castle costs 10% of a superyacht.

shows you how much these people matter on a historical scale. he's flexing on us but pretty fucking lame compared to billionaires in 2346 who'd have megaships travelling through the cosmos.

take a moment to laugh at this loser. have fun in your castle while you check your smartphone on the toilet, asshole. i can do that in pissant suburbia.
