Had exact same fusion performed.

4 screws, 2 rods to connect them, and a 3-d sintered titanium cage between the vertebrae.

I can attest to the chronic pain and wanting to armor a bulldozer

Lemmy, what's something you want to talk about or get off your chest? (serious)

Chronic pain is so difficult.

There are no words in any language to sufficiently communicate how difficult it is.

It is post operative surgery waking up in agony levels of pain, every day, forever.

It breaks you mentally. It stunts your activity levels. It robs you of patience and kindness.

It is torture, performed by no one, where you would do anything to make it stop. Anything.

Being a compassionate, energy giving, productive, and present person in the lives of others whilst carrying the invisible caustic agony of chronic pain is a sysaphean task the is harder every degeneratively waking day.

Doing the right things (2 hours of PT and exercises every day, cognitive behavioral therapeutic techniques, biofeedback tools, purposefully doing what is painful to prevent classic conditioning avoidance, and no medication for pain) is so fucking hard. Every single day.

There is no vacation. There is no rest.

Air Force Has Troops Remove Names, Unit Patches from Uniforms During Deportation Flights

Reply in thread

Talk about jumping 4 steps down the road.

They are uniformed. No global convention or agreement mandates those elements be on a uniform. The nametag, unit patch, and other items on the uniform are just ways that force happens to enhance identification within the unit.

They are identified as uniformed members of a military force. This satisfies the convention.

None of this matters or applies at all given that there is no combat occurring that would fall under the Geneva convention. So they could be plain clothes officers and it wouldn’t apply.

Trump is a sack of dog turds, and what he is doing is largely stupid speed run overreach, but this hyperbolic shit just harms credibility of the already massive list of shit he is violating.

Those moutains are so quaint

Older than trees.

Older than bones.

Drones from land masses that don’t exist anymore.

There is rock in the Appalachian mountains without coal seams, because many formed in places before the land biomass that made coal and oil existed.

They contain layers of fossils from ancient whales back to small crustaceans.

480 million years ago trilobites were being heft out of the sea by the Appalachians.

The Appalachians existed for 20 million years before bearing witness to a million year long meteor shower from the L-chondrite debris that gave the earth temporary rings.

Gold standard:

Be able to draw from concealment and hit a 6” steel circle at 10 yards in under 1.5 seconds. Every time, 10 draws in a row.

Ensure you can perform an elpresidente stage run in 6.5 seconds with all hits in the alpha scoring zone.

You can perform a fast drill in under 7 seconds, 3 times in a row back to back.

Your splits at 7 yards are under 2 tenths.

Your draw, shoot, reload, shoot on a 7 yard 6” steel plate is under 2.5 seconds. 10 times in a row.

Amateurs train until they get it right. Professionals train until they can’t get it wrong.

You always fall in the moment to the level of your training, so absolutely train if you decide to arm yourself. Otherwise you have given someone in power the ability to take lethal force from you and use it against you, or worse, you have misapplied it and harmed someone you did not intend to.

CNN Host Left Stunned As IDF Confirms Israel Hit Refugee Camp With Airstrike

Reply in thread

The US fucked up hard on its killing of civilians, but MODT of the time it was at least a result of supporting direct ground combat where friendly forces were engaged. At least that was true from weeks after the initial invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Israel is tossing bombs at targets, using the most advanced aircraft in the world… and their ground forces are not within 10 miles of the site.

That’s what makes this inexcusable. They had time. They didn’t have ground forces under threat. Every vehicle isn’t an IED waiting to happen yet. They have the time to check for authorization before letting a JDAM off the rails.

The right to defend has to come with purse string implications if they use it as right to kill without mercy. They do this, we cut funding. They do it more, in clearly not accidental strikes, we impose sanctions. The purse will hurt enough due to their reliance on western arms, that they change lest they not be able to drop bombs at all.

It’s one thing to have a legit terror target and mistake the building or some freak accident. It’s another to drop a bomb on a refugee camp and then simply shrug.
