Im sure it gives them a tingly feeling LMBO

The only person doing something revolutionary in liberal countries in recent years is Luigi. And he has the balls to admit that he did it. Beyond that, any other protest has been much closer to voting than to an uprising.
I wouldn't say he's the only person, there's been a lot of scattered protests lately (not counting peaceful marches) and destroying Flock cameras has become a social media trend, but other than that I mostly agree with your point

ChatGPT access to Apple Messages is dangerous and irresponsible
Depends on your threat model IMO, but I wouldn't use either of those services in particular

PSA: Firefox now auto-uses the XDG portal file picker

I had to do some manual configuration to make the XDG portal filepicker work correctly in Niri, but after that I haven't had any problems

I will never in my life understand why people want flagship phones
It's easier to compile Rust programs and emulate Wii games on phones with higher RAM/CPU/Storage

Unfortunately no, I tried using Nix on Droid and it's super buggy and Android's aggressive OOM killer and lack of systemd didn't help, NixOS-AVF on Android Terminal is probably going to be my next shot, and hopefully the Linux support on Fairphone makes more progress

Sure but other brands tend to have a lot of issues in general and the Linux support is worse, whereas a T480 was like $200 last I checked and has a huge Linux community behind it and supposedly they last a long time

Framework sponsors a lot of open source projects, the Hyprland controversy is overplayed IMO and they aren't really worse than mainstream brands

I think some distros have a systemd service that does it weekly or monthly which is usually enough but in rare cases it's not, just know that if you suddenly get out of space errors on BTRFS but you're not actually out of space that's probably the issue

Yeah, tell AI all your great ideas, You can count on AI corporations to keep your secrets

I think all the things that we accused China of doing was more or less an admission that we where just jealous that we couldn’t do that.
For AI it's even worse, like with the Chinese open weight models it's easier to get zero data-retention agreements than with the closed US models.

I'll keep the business laptops suggestion in mind. Consumer Windows laptops are the ones I've had a lot of problems with.

I thought China has extremely strict porn laws and laws censoring gory content, I'd expect it to be even worse in that regard. PeerTube and Odysee seem the most promising right now

I'm mainly concerned about the old CPU being a lot slower at compiling larger projects than I realize or not being able to handle people's latest JavaScript AI slop. If it can run stuff like Gentoo though then it should work.
