This is not a good look for firefox
These can be turned off. Not great that they’re on by default, but you gotta pay the bills somehow right?

TIL the original drummer of The Offspring is a gynecological oncologist who was sued for malpractice. The judge called a mistrial when he saved a juror who had a heart attack
I could imagine that juror to be slightly biased toward the defendant once they had been saved by the defendant. No wonder the judge had to call a mistrial.

Most every kid who has taken high school science should know what °C is, though

Official Minecraft wiki editors so furious at Fandom's 'degraded' functionality and popups they're overwhelmingly voting to leave the site

When the old school RuneScape wiki moved to a self hosted solution it was night and day the quality difference. I’d argue that OSRS (and probably regular RS) have some of the best wikis in gaming.

Wow, 1993 to 2024, not a bad first-class support lifetime.

A note about the security of your Steam account
TL;DR
We have examined the leak sample and have determined this was NOT a breach of Steam systems.
You do not need to change your passwords or phone numbers as a result of this event. It is a good reminder to treat any account security messages that you have not explicitly requested as suspicious. We recommend regularly checking your Steam account security at any time at https://store.steampowered.com/account/authorizeddevices

Traveler ordered to pay more than $5,000 in fuel costs after flight diverted due to bad behavior
Honestly that’s way less than it should be given how much other passengers were inconvenienced. That might be harder to quantify the value of, though, I suppose.

We shouldn't do this drunk
I can’t even imagine a bug with 30!! legs, that would be an absolutely absurd number.
4.285 × 10^16 legs would just look silly.

Such Wisdom
In case anyone is curious, here’s what Wikipedia has to say about this:
The compromise that emerged was UTC, which conforms to the pattern for the abbreviations of the variants of Universal Time (UT0, UT1, UT2, UT1R, etc.).

Proton is transitioning towards a non-profit structure | Proton
This is definitely great news and refreshing to see from a company, but this came out two months ago.
Published on June 17, 2024
Edit: it looks like Proton just recently sent an email about this to their ProtonMail subscribers which is likely why this got posted just now.

DuckDuckGo is amping up its AI search tool but will still let you leave it behind
Honestly I find it quite useful, and I’m glad they found a way to do it with increased privacy. I will only use duck.ai if I want to use an AI tool.
But I can understand some people wanting it off entirely so hats off to DDG for keeping that as a core feature.

Which Free&Open-Source Projects should I Donate to?
Not sure if it’s directly related, but I donate to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF). They’re quite active in the technology space and I feel that they also carry the FOSS ethos.
