How reddit crushed the biggest protest in its history: Did it, though?
It really really hope Lemmy takes off. For me, there’s enough here that I’m set. I look forward to the apps getting better and the platform getting more stable.

They’re referring to a political party in Israel not Israel itself.

Tesla's value plunged nearly $200 billion since mid-July – and the EV maker faces a bumpy road ahead
Reply in thread
Probably not. Tesla is very dysfunctional as an org. He flattened it so much, and hasn’t appointed a real leader, while he’s distracted I bet they’re basically in a holding pattern.
He motivated them by setting insane goals then driving them insanely hard and sleeping in the office and shit.
If he’s not doing that, the company is, pardon the pun, on autopilot. Watch out for stopped emergency vehicles.

I’m actually on the TestFlight for Memmy and it’s getting much better very quickly.
But I was an Apollo addict and that is a very high bar.
Wefwef reversing the colors on upvotes and downvotes triggers me, and at least on iOS it has a pretty annoying WebKit related bug where it stops scrolling until you tap something.
Memmy is quite good though, the functionality is there and the polish will come!

Exposure to other viewpoints is good. No need to debate. And if you’re on a large instance, you’ll see that. Not everyone thinks alike, there are shades of gray. Discussion is allowed to happen but intolerance isn’t tolerated.
The tankie instances ban anyone for even asking questions politely that they don’t agree with. It’s a total monoculture and I assume they’re mostly still kids, because everything is black and white and can be solved without any nuance at all.

Keep in mind that social security is set to run out in 10 years time.

It also benefits the upper middle class. And middle class in HCOL areas.
It should be adjusted based on cost of living.
Making $150k in NYC is like making $50k in middle america.

You’re entitled to that opinion. You’re not entitled to misrepresent 70 year old letters to say something they didn’t say.

And lots of those users probably aren’t real.
But there’s a distribution curve. 10-15% of a user base is super super valuable because they create all the content. If they lost 3-5% of that segment, that would be a real problem.

Dallas-Fort Worth airport
While I agree with all of that, if you’re local, you can get dropped off basically at your gate.
This was modeled after the Airport of Tomorrow in Kansas City, which was heavily influenced by TWA who demanded “drive to your gate”, which was in itself heavily influenced by what TWA did at JFK with Eero Saarinen.
That was basically doomed from the start as planes got bigger. And the nail in the coffin was security added later on and basically trapping you in a tiny, crummy gate area at MCI (can you imagine no security at all??) and finally destroyed by the post 2001 security enhancements that made it even worse.
They’ve recently opened a new MCI terminal that replaces the airport of tomorrow and looks like an airport of today.

Lots of people fly overnight flights places… it makes a pretty big difference to overall comfort to have your own space and something that turns into a bed.
I’m going to guess there’s a lot of things in your life where you spend more money for something that is better, more comfortable or more convenient.
But the value of money is relative. Spending another $2,000 to sit in business class feels unthinkable when you make $50k/year. When you’re making $500k/year it doesn’t seem like such a big deal.
Also, lots of people get a lot of frequent flier miles from working jobs with travel, so the actual cost might have been lower.

I mean… you sound like a kinda shitty user. You only ever ask for help, never contribute.
You don’t interact with people who have suggestions.
Did you even thank the people who eventually gave you the right answer?
Maybe you should stick to stack overflow.
