It is rather disappointing, to say the least. I was reading /r/technology and there are a ton of posts to the tune of, fuck you, I just want my official Reddit app to work. It really bums me out, but I guess the silver lining is that those scabs are exactly the trash we probably don’t want on Lemmy.

Lemmy and Mastodon feel like the real web3.

AFAIK yes, but until Spez conveniently ruined his site, Lemmy had like 2% of the user base it just gained. Jerboa is even made by the Lemmy developers IIRC. So now that the usage has spiked, I’m sure there are other developers thinking about it. Hell, I’m considering building an iOS app myself!

I really like it here. However, almost 90% of my feed is either posts about Reddit, or Lemmy/kbin meta analysis. We need actual content and communities over here!

This; keep in mind that Rexxit is still ongoing and there are a lot of new arrivals here. So it makes sense that the pain of departing Reddit as well as adjustment pains settling into the Fediverse will be a theme for a while. As people get used to the new way of things, I have no doubt these “meta” issues will naturally become stale.

It’s exceptionally selfish to cut apart the community and try to promote your own instance while the Lemmyverse as a whole is experiencing a mass influx of users. This will create confusion and frustration at a time that we should be rolling out the red carpet as a community for the Reddit exodus.
