Why does Lemmy feel so fresh compared to Reddit?
People are more respectful of each other
Less trolls
I think you mean fewer 😜

Visiting the US soon - do I really have to tip?
Reply in thread
As far as I understand it, US servers prefer the current system as they make more money from tips. Personally, if you prefer this system I think you don't have any right to complain or get upset if someone doesn't tip.

How does (or should) one respond to “Lemmy = tankies”
How does (or should) one respond to “Lemmy = tankies”
My first question would be: "What's a tankie?"

The mods discussed it, but felt it would be a shame to lose the (at the time) 1000 people already subscribed. As far as I can see, the point of federation is that it can be anywhere?

Off for burgers at lunchtime with #1 child, can't wait. Have to take a month's worth of garden waste to the tip this morning as they're striking and not collecting. Going to have to try to get a full wheelie bin in the car...

Yes, my thoughts exactly. Its probably due to (a) having 1.5 million users and (b) necessitating lots of individual mods, over-moderation is safer than under-moderation.
If the moan is entertaining, satirical, prompts engagement it should be left alone.
Broadly agree, providing its not too negative / repetitive. Hopefully the community will decide organically.

I think the crowd had decided beforehand, there was nothing he could say to change their minds. So he didn't bother.

Just spent my lunch break giving my wife a buzzcut because she mixed up thinning scissors and normal.
Time for a lovely new sunhat?

I'm sitting at a bus shelter and the old woman sitting next to me just farted. I couldn't hear it and I can't smell it, but she sort of leaned over and I felt the vibration through the bench.
This is the sort of content I come here for. 10/10

I wear a mask to work if I’m sick but can’t call in

No country for old men. I get that it's supposed to be bleak and not resolve at the end. I still hate that it's bleak and doesn't resolve at the end. I didn't really get the "amazingness" of the coin flip scene either.
I also thought Blade Runner was ok, but the whole "tears in the rain" monologue is so hyped on the internet that it was a bit meh when it actually happened.
