This is some true believer shit.

Google launched less than thirty years ago.

At the current rate of deterioration, it's not exactly certain to what extent the planet will be able to sustain human life, much less whether a much loathed spyware company will still be around to pay the bills.

'Europe is at a total loss': Russia gloats over Greenland tensions

Reply in thread

Consider that Russia has been failing to take over a neighboring country for several years now, for incomprehensible reasons, displaying immense incompetence on every level along the way. It is inherently very unlikely that Russia simultaneously has masterminded the entire fabric of the US and effectively taken over the country through sheer genius.

No doubt that Trump is playing right into Putin's hands, but Putin is also an idiot: not omnipotent.

I think it's more worth considering that the MAGA doomsday cult has a lot of interests that align with Russia, e.g. shifting U.S focus to the Western Hemisphere for resource dominance, as suggested by Aslı Bâli in the latest episode of The Dig (https://thedigradio.com/podcast/maga-empire-w-asli-bali-and-greg-grandin/).

Please make a Trump superpost

I think you just have to live with a lot of posts being about the unfolding break in the world order for a while. I mean, sure, some posts might have been suitable to merge, but mostly they're about different developments. The posts are also getting a lot of engagement and generating discussion.

Are TikTok and X tracking you across the internet? Our privacy tool can tell you

These link only clickbait posts irk me a little. First of all, I’m not going to take the bait. Second, I’m not going to use your ”privacy tool” without understanding it’s upside and having a tentative grasp of what it does and what data it uses. Third, I’m not convinced there are any best practices, privacy-wise, for using blatantly statesponsored Chinese spyware or that there’s any helping you if you’re still on X.

Well, it's not uncommon in some countries with perpetual loans for individuals, so sure!

It's usually a matter of agreeing the right interest and offering the right security. You will get a worse deal than Google.

Trump Says He Hammered Out ‘Complex’ Greenland Deal with NATO: ‘This Is Forever’

Reply in thread

It's probably right that Trump is overstating his win, but frankly any form of yielding to Trump is infuriating. If there is a deal that covers "the entire Arctic region" the details will be important. Countries in that region include Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. One should not assume it's a win for the Nato countries with more Trump regime forces in the region after the US has threatened invasion or annexation of two of them.

Disney Is Encouraging and Exploiting the Rise of “Kidults”

Reply in thread

Some people have multiple personalities, debilitating gambling compulsions or think that the third Godfather movie was the best in the series. We draw different lines for what is crazy all the time.

Going deep in debt to, willfully, be in an exploitative relationship with a predatory mega corporation that regurgitates your childhood memories over and over, strikes me as clinically bat shit.

Disney adults don’t even have to leave the house to fully commune with their favorite corporation in the flesh because they can live full-time in a branded city. For a million dollars or two, you can buy a sprawling house at Cotino, a 618-acre gated community in Rancho Mirage, California — the first in Disney’s Storyliving venture, which is developing master-planned suburban developments throughout the United States.

But yeah, different strokes, I guess.
