The woman approached a wild animal that was in a visibly confused state.

Doesn't matter the species or size: Don't do that unless you know exactly what you are doing or can deal with being attacked. She did neither.

Of course idiots are going to use this as excuse for their "wolf bad" nonsense.

Edit: Oh and have fun with the vaccine against rabies that's administered preemptively in such cases. Side effects can be brutal but better than dying with 100% certainty.

She thought it was a dog.

And apparently she was only pushed and scratched.

She's fine, the wolf is fine, I couldn't find anyone blaming the wolf. I think we couldn't hope for a better way for this story to end.

Almost 100%, there's several people that have survived. One without vaccine one with partial. It's like 99.99 but still not fun. And very dangerous.

Antivaxers: so you're telling me there's a chance...

I mean yeah, it's not like I'd endorse chasing down dogs that are acting funny.

1

AFAIK, they only technically survived. None of them fully recovered.

Lucky she's in germany, in the US emergency rooms don't give it out, it's expensive too. The health department might pay for it, but maybe not. They would probably means test you first.

It's really bizarre that the first wolf attack in over 100 years in Germany happened in an IKEA in the middle of Hamburg.

24

Wouldn't call it an attack, though, that person got way into the personal space of that wolf. If you get too close, and they can't escape, they will bite you. That's what the teeth are for.

Wolf hunting season is scheduled to run from 1 July to 31 October.

I wish complete failure and intense suffering on every single human that hunts wolves.

If there are too many wolves their numbers need to be controlled or they can cause issues by killing too much of their prey. But who knows how the hunting season works in germany.

But who knows how the hunting season works in germany.

Complicated and very bureaucratic, because Germany, but the general idea behind it is population control.

He said the wolf was in safety and being given veterinary care.

Phew.

They're still not sure what to do with him. Right now, he's apparently in a wildlife rescue centre in Lower Saxony but euthanasia is still on the table.
