The dangers of monogamy

Once marriage is viewed as an equal partnership there is no structurally distinct role for men and women.

Therefore a man could just as easily fill the wife role and a woman the husband role. So why limit marriage to man and woman? Man and man or woman and woman is equally valid structurally

If men and women are interchangeable and replaceable what function does gender have in a society?

Who's to say anyone can't be any gender they want to be?

This is the roadmap to societal destruction that monogamy-only causes

We were so close!

razor blades

Not just hotels but houses too. There would be a slot inside the medicine cabinet for disposing razors into the wall. Dude who came up with the idea was probably like, "we'll all be dead from nuclear bombs before any of these fill up or needs to be renovated".

Anon seeks enlightenment

I'll posit a (very poorly and drunkenly abridged) story from the Buddha that I actually think of on a somewhat daily basis, in contrast of all the Buddha-bad comments:

A man approaches the Buddha in the city. He says to him, "I hate you Buddha, you are always telling people how to live their lives and what they need to do to be happy, how can you have all the answers?"

The Buddha says, "I will ask you a question. If I give you a gift, would you accept it?"

The man says of course he would not.

The Buddha asks, "If you do not accept my gift, then to whom does my gift belong?"

The man says, "The gift belongs to you, because I did not accept it."

The Buddha replies, "Then I treat your hatred as a gift. You offer me anger, and I do not accept it; therefore, your hatred and anger belongs only to you, and only you may suffer it's consequences."

So when people get angry at me over things that are beyond my control, I reject their anger, let them yell at what they think is the problem, and move on.

Then the Buddha punches me in the face and I am enlightened.

The way my fuck-ass pharmacist makes up the remaining pills in my bastarding prescription

Uh, former pharmacy tech here... I don't know what you want us to do. If I have a strip of, say, 10 pills, 2 rows of 5, and I get a prescription for 6 pills, that means I'm gonna have a strip of 4 pills left over. If I get a prescription for 9 pills, there's gonna be a single one left over. Do you want these pills to just be thrown away? If they don't have enough pills on hand to make your prescription with the full sheet, would you rather they delay your prescription so they can order some nicer looking ones?

I get that it can be frustrating dealing with those blister packs, but freaking out at the pharmacist/ tech that a. did not put the pills in a blister pack and b. doesn't have any option but to dispense medication on hand, seems pretty misplaced. Like, I wouldn't think something was wrong with the Walmart cashier for selling me a pair of scissors in security packaging.

Anon meets up with a girl

Reply in thread

Gonna preface this by saying Ive got no issues with you or your comment, I recognize what community I'm in.

But advice like this is so frustrating for actually normal people who are single and are struggling to find a partner. It implies anyone who can't get a date can't do so because they're the equivalent of a stinky smelly mongoloid who's been wearing the same underwear he uses to clean his pits for 3 days.

Again your comment is perfectly valid given the context. OOP probably left out that he tipped his fedora to the m'lady because of all the dandruff that fell off when he did it. But being told in normal communities to "just take a shower bro you'll get a date 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽" feels like being corrected on your spelling, in a math test, when you spelled the word correctly in the first place.

/rant

Edit: oof. So I upset some people with this one, obviously, but the only people I care about that I upset are the ones who pointed out the unfortunate term used above. As some had guessed I had no idea of it's origins. (Ironically, I noticed the similarity when my phone generously assumed I wasn't a bigot and tried autocorrecting to something.. marginally less offensive, but in the midst of typing out a rant I didn't think twice.)

I'm leaving it so others can see my mistake and hopefully learn from it. But when selecting fun and frivolous language, I'll make sure to remove that one from the pot.
