SEGA under fire for Sonic the Hedgehog ARG, as its terms of service reveals participant data is harvested for AI model training

That you for helping me understand the difference. I'd say to your point 99% of the internet shouldn't NEED to collect any user data. But data is the new oil. The currently reality sucks. And sadly reading the TOS won't help anyone, because who knows what they're doing. But now I understand the difference between AR and ARGs. Again thank you. :)

MILLION upvotes for this! This is excellent! Thank you so much for the suggestion! That's awesome. I have a split keyboard, so definitely going to change that in settings, but SUPER cool! Thank you SO MUCH! :)

Yup. But that's at the browser level and depends on folks knowing it's there and how to use it. Any chance to build something like that into piefed natively? If it's not possible out something you're not interested in I completely understand. Just thought it'd be an easy way to see the content quickly that you're interested in.

Private community here on the fediverse?

There's Matrix. That's more like Discord. And everything is encrypted. You can run your own matrix server. Have different rooms for different topics. Do private messaging between individuals. Verify each other so you know if someone's device changes that you need to verify them again.

I don't know how difficult it is to set up, but I know many people have done it.

Running my own fediverse instance for the people who need it the most

You absolutely can run Fediverse software yourself. That's how the internet was created and we have you claw it back from big Tech.

First you should figure out what you want to run. For a few folks and basic microblogging, GoToSocial is super easy to set up, but it's limited.

Bonfire is an amazing fediverse app and it's getting better everyday. They're trying to make it a platform for communities and it's very extensible.

Emissary is also amazing platform for fediverse stuff and then there's HTML and CSS editor to really build what you want from there. Like bonfire, but you have to really create the site you want.

If you want reddit style, I like piefed over Lemmy.

Forums with fediverse? Nodebb.

Pictures only? Pixelfed

Live streams? Owncast

Hosting videos? Peertube

And it all interconnects. So you could run Bonfire, and follow someone on Peertube and comment and like from Bonfire.

It's overwhelming. Id suggest write down what you're wanting and then look at each project and see what fits.

I run my own bonfire at btfree.social and a public peertube at tubefree.org.

Happy to help however I can. I've done some install videos and going to do more soon.

The circle of life

Literally was in a presentation at work the other day where they said someone used 2 million tokens and the next person used 1 million and they were so excited by it.

I didn't get it. I asked went 2 million was better than 1 million. The VP basically said it's not, just costs us more money.

So why the hell is the presentation acting like it's a fucking victory?
