My wife has an iPhone. I have a Samsung S23. Why do videos she texts me look like super low res shit?? Can iPhones not text videos?

Its due to compression of the video in order to fit on a MMS message, which is very small. Android uses RCS as a new message standard that can send bigger files but Apple has yet to add it to their OS. Its similar to how Apple uses iMessage to do the same, however this is not a standard and is locked to only apple devices.

Apple is supposedly adding support for RCS during the new iOS update but until then you can use a different messaging app to send better/larger files.

I recommend Signal as it is easy to sign up and start using while also being private.

Short answer, no, it is not normal unless you have some kind of illness.

28 years of age is usually too young for your body to fall apart. It is enough time that your bad habits begin to show results, such as muscle loss, muscle imbalances, etc. This is usually caused by your life style. As you get older, its more important for you to do maintenance on your body and watch what you are consuming.

If your life is too stationary, then you will start to see yourself falling apart. The old saying of "If you don't use it, you lose it" starts to hold true with time. How "aged" your body feels really depends on how active you are with it, to an extent. There are people twice your age that are in fantastic shape, that is because they put in work to maintain their bodies.

It is time to introduce some good habits to your routine. Eat a bit better, move around more, more active activities, etc. You will start to feel better again before you know it. Good luck.

That's unfortunate but at the same time the app store is quite lacking. I want to say its still in test phase but its missing so many basic things to make it functional. No app screenshots that, no app descriptions, not much information at all outside of an install button. Then there is the fact that there isn't many apps in there to begin with.

The benefit of this store was to allow both proprietary and open source apps but without any basic descriptions I find it useless. Its more similar to obtainium but without the flexibility.

What is least terrible SmartTV OS for privacy?

I would avoid anything built into the TV.

  1. Its starting to be used for spying on you
  2. The chip they come with are usually not that good unless it's a high end TV.
  3. They are building ads right into the TV themselves.

I would not connect the TV to the internet and use a external media player. Either a Nvidia shield or an Apple TV is your best bet.

You can also try building a media player yourself using a small computer.

Note - The self made media player will be more limited in terms of apps available, unfortunately, as well as streaming quality from some of the streaming services.

Good way to send small messages between devices ?

Localsend is a good one to try out. Works with all devices and is pretty fast. It does however require an app to run.

For something you can run off the web on PC you can try pairdrop. This doesn't require an app to work on PC. Haven't tried it without the app on mobile so not sure if it will work on there via web.

I prefer Localsend over pairdrop due to local send being completely server less and all local.

What's your best habit?

I record events of the day, daily. Going on a year now. Just a quick jot of the most eventful thing of the day. Nice to look back and remember things that happened through out the year.

Use an app called "Daily You" in F-droid to help me organize it all, if anyone is interested.

Why don’t you like Apple?

Mostly their marketing practices. They are designed well but mostly designed to keep you locked in one way or another.

For me, their desktop is not as intuitive as people make it seem and lacks simple shortcuts that most other desktops have.

On mobile, its the restriction of customization and options. They are getting better at customizing but still limit you on options for anything outside of their apps. They claim to be private but follow similar practices as other companies, just in a more quite way with better PR.

ELI5 How come it seems now the old wise tale of Vietnamese eating pets and now its immigrants into the USA?

These rumors/stories, whatever you want to call them, is all new to me, but its just a way to dehumanize a certain group and therefore helping to justify labelling them the new boogieman.

ELI5 Its a way to make a group of people appear less human and different from yourself. This makes it easier to not relate to them and use them as a bad/ evil example of something you want to avoid.

Why there is no photos of earth from space? 🤔

Maybe you are talking about the color overlay that they add to images? This explains some of the reason. https://www.lroc.asu.edu/images/192

Edit: just realized this was explain like I'm 5 so I can add a little excerpt.

Not sure exactly what you mean by fake. My biggest guess will be the coloring of the images. Why are space photos always so vivid? This is because the images are color overlayed from a lot of images that are actually taken in single color themselves. Be it black or white, black and blue, etc. Once the individual images are received, they then piece them together go try and mimic the visual humans will see.

Photos are shot in single color because they are easier to process and also much smaller in size. This makes it better for transmitting.
