LDAC

Opus! It's a merge of a codec designed for speech (from Skype!) with one designed for high quality audio by Xiph (same people who made OGG/Vorbis).

Although it needs some more work on latency, it prefers to work on bigger frames but default than Bluetooth packets likes, but I've seen there's work on standardizing a version that fits Bluetooth. Google even has it implemented now on Pixel devices.

Fully free codec!

As somebody running a cryptography forum elsewhere, if I was forced to accept lies that endanger people I'd rather shut down the forum instead.

I can imagine lots of other moderators in science and medical forums would hold the same opinion.

I feel bad for having a job that requires nothing from me and I don't tell anyone

You're getting paid to be available and respond if needed. That's not something to feel bad about.

Plenty of people have similar jobs like first responders and on-call agents in silent shifts where nothing ever happens. Your bosses probably know - they're paying you anyway specifically because there's always the possibility something happens and it's cheaper and less risky to already have you there and ready. Just make sure you're actually awake and available and you're fine.

I get the part about not wanting to feel judged for having an easy job, but at least your wife should know just for the sake of being honest.
