This is not new. When I was teaching elementary about 20 years ago I was told the same thing. I’ve had to change grades because someone never helped their child but had a big enough mouth to change the principal’s mind about the kid’s grades. After 25 years I burned out badly. I loved the job but hated the useless nonsense that stopped me from actually doing my job.

Retired Elementary school teacher here. You are correct. After the first two years and horrible flu symptoms I was invulnerable for the next twenty. Also agree on preschool teachers being almost immortal.

I am so sad. That’s all I can think of right now. So happy to be retired from teaching. So scared for our kids.

I will never understand why people of color are drawn to this well documented bigot. And let’s not get started on the mental gymnastics of the Log Cabin Republicans.
