I hereby name thee Chaosbringer

People in this thread look like they never mada a mistake doing something for the first time.

You are all perfect, but our admins are awful.

They also don't have experience in running this federation thing like we don't have in using it.

This is all in R&D mode, both for code and for running community.

Express your opinions, since that is the only way things can change, but have some understanding for people running the show.

How do pre-reddit influx lemmy members feel?

I, personally, would prefer slower linear and more organic growth. I want people to be here because the want to come, not because they want to run away from somewhere else.

But I do acknowledge that there was not much discussion going on and was not enough content for my procrastinating habits, nor I could keep myself informed in current events.

Thou I have had lemmy.ml account for three years now I never heard of beehaw before this reddit wave started, so that might be on me.

While I am positive overall, I do not like that some bad habits from reddit are resurfacing here, mostly not being able to have different opinion without someone insulting you.

I hope there will be enough instances where discussion and difference in opinion will be nurtured and welcome.

I just checked and my account on lemmy is 3 years old, I was waiting for all of you. At moments lemmy looked like it will take of by it self, but last few months was pretty quiet. I hope this is the push this community needs to succeed.

Reddit got too big for my taste since digg joined in, I don't think this will kill it ( they have the data how many people is using it outiside official apps), but let's make space out of it.

Jerboa after latest update

Recommendation from app developer is to use web interface until your instance uptates to 0.18, and probably to 0.18.1 since than will captcha be back.

They had to do it since they changed from using websockets to http calls in 0.18. Maybe downgrading is of jerboa is possible.

Maybe we should stop calling them adblockers.

I am not blocking ads I am blocking spyware and malicious scripts. I wouldn't have anything against well behaving ads without js.

Also making it illegal is nit necessary, just don't show me your content and exclude it from search results and we are good.

I lost my job to ChatGPT and was made obsolete. I was out of work for 3 months before taking a new job passing out samples at grocery stores.

This person explains all her failures: insted of adopting and using chatgpt herself, reducing price and finding more clients she did nothing.

She was writing most boring pieces of text than no one is reading (corporate blog posts and spam emails).

Refused to learn new things which would keep her in position.

Yes, some jobs disappear other appear. I believe that 90+% of today's jobs didn't exist even 50 years ago. Especially not without will to learn new ways of doing things. Imagine farmer with knowledge of 100 years ago. Or hotel front desk worker without computer and telephone.

Ladybird browser is switching from C++ to Swift

I never understand hate ladybird and SymphonyOS is getting in fediverse.

People are doing interesting work against all odds, everyone ever just saying "it is not possible", finding some random comments from project founder to hate.

But you know what? You and your opinion is not important. People are not doing this to make Linux competitor or Mozzila competitor but to have fun and learn something new.

I also don't want apple near it, but Andreas learned browser development on Safari and with looking for "popular enought" memory safe language it is rust vs swift and just by looking at the code becomes obvious how easier Swift is to pick up. Especially for someone comming from C++.

Haters gonna hate, I wish them luck. Failing is ok too.

8 years after Hillary Clinton lost to Trump, Kamala Harris managed to (probably) do it again by recycling Clinton's failed strategy of courting Republicans & out-hawking Trump amidst a...

I don't know much about US politics, but sounds to me it is lies thay people don't want.

They don't like Trump for things he says, but because he is telling it openly. And than other side comes and starts PR and avoiding telling the real plan, which is known to everyone.

When I saw Kamala enetering the race I was certain elections are done and she is the next US president. But they learned nothing and have done everything possible to not be elected. To me, outsider from europe, it looks like this is all on democratic party.
