I don't know of any mirrors that are "official", but I do know some people maintain mirrors via rsync (rsync service on elpa.gnu.org was added specifically in response to such requests, IIRC to maintain a mirror on the other side of China's firewall). As for validation, (Non)GNU ELPA signs all the packages and the archive-contents file (with a key distributed alongside Emacs), so it should "just work".

Can someone point me at technical info about the risks of having an unlocked bootloader? From where I stand, the risks seem completely irrelevant (to take advantage of an unlocked bootloader, the attacker would need to have full access to your OS already). AFAIK, locking of bootloaders was never designed to protect the user, but only to let cell-phone providers restrict what phone users can do.

That people voted against it is no evidence that it's a horrible idea. The article to which you reply at least tries to provide a bit of evidence for its argument. Also, I don't need a parliament that's "efficient" (whatever that can mean. Do you measure that in number of pages of new laws passed per months?), I need one that's fair and democratic. It's got nothing to do with their role/employment. Earning 100x more than the median income (or having 1000x more wealth than the average citizen about to retire) is a crime.

I'm not familiar with this specific machine, but I've dealt with similar fan problems in 3 other machines (twice successfully (both Thinkpads) and once not (not a Thinkpad)) and I'd recommend you open up your machine and clean it, including opening up the fan itself, which is often not as hard as it sounds and saves you the trouble of having to find a replacement.

J'étais ennuyé par l'insistence pesante des gars de la sécu quand j'ai passé tranquilement de nuit (y avait que des cyclistes et des gars de la sécu qui voulaient que je descende de mon vélo alors que j'allais à peine plus vite qu'à pied), mais là je comprends mieux. C'est vrai qu'y a des cyclistes qui ont bien d'la peine à respecter les piétons. Je crois que c'est un problème pas mal plus général (et exacerbé par les moto/vélo-éléc ainsi que par l'exploitation par les services de livraison)

Huh! Those TV boxes are not special, only the software on it provides an illegal service. Forcing people to send them for "recycling" is like telling them to throw away their computers if it has illegally-acquired software!
From an ecological viewpoint, this is unacceptable!
