Is this just Linux propaganda, or how much of it is true?

Last I checked it’s true that you can get framerate in the area of or even exceeding that of Windows. What’s rarely mentioned however is that frame pacing can suck (119 frames in 1 second then 1 frame in 1 second averages to 60 frames per second to give an over exaggerated example) and will contribute to stuttery feel despite adequate framerates.

What are you watching, and what do you recommend?

Finished season 3 of Six Feet Under last week, 2 seasons to go. Jesus Christ On Rollerblades, it was so miserable. It was like a second act of a movie dragged out into 10 hours worth of TV. I know the payoff is there so we soldiered on but pretentiousness of one of the plot lines didn’t help. My recollection of what happens later is foggy at best so I hope it gets better. Still excellent overall.

Pre-orders for GTA 6 are open [€69.90 / $79.90]

It is surpassingly low as analysts were speculating it could be $99.90 which wouldn’t be that much of surprise given how much a game like GTA VI costs to produce. It’s also surprising as EUR price is noticeably lower than USD one - EUR one includes VAT that’s on average much higher than US sales tax on top of that.

I’m not going to pass judgment on someone pirating things because they can’t afford to buy them. If you’re appealing to ethics as a rationale for piracy, maybe try to get consent of regular Rockstar employees before you punish that evil management by taking things you want for free.

I figure most low level employees receive a salary which remains unaffected by company performance until layoffs begin.

Company performance affects salaries and layoffs even if it’s not 1:1. You’re making decisions that have financial impact on others and you never bothered to think what is their opinion on it.

Have you considered just ignoring GTA VI rather than anticipating it to be such a good game that you’re definitely going to pirate it, giving it free publicity in the process? It’s not even out yet, it might suck.

Peacock Gives Series Order to ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ TV Series From Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door, Chris Yost

Which Star Trek though? The Orville continues the best traditions of The Next Generation and Deep Space 9 - challenging viewers with ethical dilemmas that are tackled without being preachy or just childish like new Star Trek shows. It does that under the guise of toilet humour at first, only to flourish into full blown classic Trek later. The only part I dislike is Seth MacFarlane inserting his current girlfriends everywhere.

That’s also what many other social media would do because it’s easier to ban posting of personal information regardless of where it came from because you can’t trust moderation you outsourced to some third world country to do proper checks.

Example:

Reddit is quite open and pro-free speech, but it is not okay to post someone's personal information or post links to personal information. This includes links to public Facebook pages and screenshots of Facebook pages with the names still legible.

Posting someone's personal information will get you banned. When posting screenshots, be sure to edit out any personally identifiable information to avoid running afoul of this rule.

Dunno if Bsky has something similar but it’s more of a cost optimisation than anything so people are getting pointlessly angry at individual companies rather than the system which has this sort of behaviour as a guaranteed outcome.
