Southeast US. Little guy was making some good noises, likely in response to the 3-4 other males making similar noises.

I have a cardinal that lives close to me. Every morning I wake up to his beautiful call. They're such a cool bird.

The way you've taken this pic/the angle of his crest makes it looks like he's got a sick pompadour! 😆

Update: went on my daily walk and this dude and the other fellow he was chirping at finally fought irl. That's nature baby!
