Hollywood strikes to cost US economy $5 billion-plus amid lost wages, film delays
Wow, great job with the pro-company/anti-worker framing there Yahoo finance. This is the fault of greedy corporations, not workers demanding a fair share.

It does match exactly what's happening though. Others have mentioned housing cost which is a clear example, but you can also look at income inequality. Here's an article which cites data from the congressional budget office https://inequality.org/facts/income-inequality/
It shows up to 500% growth since 1979 in the earnings of the .01% while the 99% of earners are only making about 50% more than in 1979. That data makes it clear that wealth is being concentrated, and that people at the bottom are going with less. Especially considering inflation since 1979 has been 320% (source)

It does have bipartisan support, this is repeatedly shown in polling. But it doesn't matter what voters want. The interests of capital will be served above all else because of decades of antidemocratic moves.
Antidemocratic moves like
The US is just an oligarchy at this point and it's getting harder and harder for me to stay optimistic about getting out of it.

The prostitution comparison is completely out of left field. You're implying that sex workers are dishonest, which I don't see at all. The proposition of a sex worker is very upfront.
Lawyer, salesman, CEO, politician, or advertising exec would all be way better examples of dishonest professions.

Google removed the keyboard from the AndroidTV OS; now required to use voice or your mobile device.
This happens to me when I have a Bluetooth keyboard connected to the Chromecast. Others have already suggested but switching virtual keyboards should fix it.

I'm running an Ender 3. Although through the 3.5 years I've had it it's had so many parts changed and upgraded it's turning into a real ship of Theseus. Upgraded the mobo, hotend, direct drive extruder, raspberry pi for octoprint, enclosure, and bltouch for bed leveling.
It's definitely been a rewarding hobby, learning to use fusion and building things from scratch.

Not in it's current form. If/when the form factor gets to the point where it can fit in my glasses and not be very noticeable, absolutely.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Steam Cloud Save Syncing Is Killing My Internet
I've been switching between my steam deck and my desktop a lot and I thought it was steam sync not working right. Turns out it works but it's just slow because it's uploading a massive amount of data

Demonstrating that the bottom 99% has had wages increase 50% since 1979 while inflation has decreased the value of the same currency by 320% is damning. There's no good defense for capitalism here.

Good local-only/local-first wifi thermostat?
Reply in thread
Yeah, I don't blame you not wanting to commit to a hub if you'd only have this thermostat.
Depending on what features you want maybe you could find an offline one with those features built in. I know there's ones with schedules and presence detection that are fully offline.

I've used this zwave thermostat for a few years now and it's done fine. Only really makes sense if you already have a Z-wave compatible hub though.

Wildfire smoke and haze in the Eastern United States should peak this week
I was surprised to see the smogginess in DC last night. It's gotten even worse today.
From the satellite images it looks like they're seeing the smoke as far south as North Carolina.

I do this a lot too, have a steam link I used to use all the time before my deck. The latency is not noticable on the same network but there's a lot of little things that taint the streaming experience for me, never seems to go smoothly. I'm curious if others have that same experience.
I've mainly had issues with either the controls not getting passed through, or an issue where the frame rate jumps really high (like 2500) then drops and gets stuck around 20 until I force the deck to update the display's framerate.
Once I'm in game things are usually fine but getting it goong can be a headache.

I'm using the steam service, even for emulated games. I've just added the exe for yuzu (or whatever else I want to stream) as a non-steam game. Sometimes it does just work but the majority of the time I have to fiddle to get it going. It's definitely better than the steam link days though so hopefully it'll keep getting smoother over time.

Dreametech W10 Robot Vacuum on sale
Was looking into getting one of these a few weeks ago when I thought my neato had finally kicked the bucket. After dealing with neato servers for 4 years local control was a must so I stumbled across valetudo and was instantly sold on the idea. Turns out the neato was easily fixable so I'm gonna squeeze some more life out of that first.
I did see a lot of complaints about the mops not getting raised up and leaving trails behind it when it returns to it's base. Has that been a big issue for you or is it overblown?
