Time to popularize Linux phones. I read that the security model is lacking, but especially given that Android is Linux too, it shouldn’t be too difficult to catch up. The EU is also interested in tech independence, so that could be one of the sources of funding. And there are a few viable early projects, like Ubuntu Touch and Sailfish.

These kind of things show how detached politicians are from their actual job. Shouldn’t they be the FIRST to change, given that they’re the ones whose direct job is to protect our sovereignty?

They need funding. Some people, countries and unions have an increased interest in tech independence.

Why is there no privacy respecting solution for age verification? Like the government giving you some sort of token that says you’re over 18 and that’s it?

„Tech town“ and not a single European startup. Is there nobody here working on these things?

I don’t understand why with such a climate Europeans continue refusing to use European alternatives. Acting like babies, incapable of thought, reaching always for the immediately shiniest object (in this case, „the place where everyone already is“). E.g. the additional use of alternative accounts is „too much effort“.

But on public discussions, also remember that there can be undecided people watching / reading too.

So, given that software development is so easy nowadays, time to cut reliance on the “tech giants”. We should be able to develop / complete open source or small startups alternatives to Office, mobile operating systems, cloud services, Block, etc.

IDK why people simply don’t use European platforms. It takes 2 minutes to create an account. This problem is so stupid. If people use the „tech giants“ less, it fades away on its own, without any need for big regulatory battles. There are politicians writing books about „digital feudalism“ as if everyone didn’t have the choice to open an account on a different platform in 2 minutes. Come on.

Reading the problems here with the pure Linux platforms, why is there no initiative to get Linux mobile up to speed? The EU at least is looking for tech independence, funding should be possible.

The scientific method is all about being truthful. It doesn’t work perfectly, but it’s the best tool we have.

Why is this specific to games? Seems to apply to any software?

Ubuntu Touch is a thing btw, if one is serious about supporting an European ecosystem.

So launch an information campaign to counter the misinformation.. why are politicians always so passive about this? They always make it sound like only the right wing can spread on social media. It’s like they don’t want to win. Or don’t have / understand their principles to run an appealing information campaign.

For those considering, always remember that you don’t have to „move“, but can simply use the platforms in parallel. It’s a good compromise if leaving the more active network feels too heavy.

Just create a fact-checking / pro-democracy „AI swarm“. Tired of this fear mongering where apparently only the right wing knows how to write prompts, along with foreign troll farms.

We need to popularize the account diversification approach. So people don’t have to leave the popular platforms but allow smaller ones to grow. There are renowned figures that go on and about this „feudalism“ giving long talks, writing books about it and seem not capable of spending 2 minutes opening a new account on Mastodon, Peertube etc. and posting their contents there too. It’s weird and stupid.
