Nie wiem czy wiecie ale od kilku miesięcy rozwijany jest PieFed. Kolejny klon reddita w fedi na wzór lemmiego. Ktoś mógłby powiedzieć że klon lemmiego. Piefed.social to strona gdzie można sprawdzić projekt. Platforma rozwijana jest przez jednego gościa z Nowej Zelandii, ale ostatnio chyba coraz więcej chętnych do pomocy. W tym przypadku o pomoc jest duuużo łatwiej niż w lemmim bo projekt jest napisany w pythonie, którego zna masa ludzi i jest to mocno przystępny język. Lemmy napisany jest w Ruscie, specjalistycznym języku którego bardzo rzadko używa się do prostych platform webowych.

Na moje oko sam PieFed już na ten moment oferuje podobne możliwości co lemmy, niektóre funkcje może są nawet lepsze (np wyszukiwarka społeczności).

Jak tylko się dowiedziałem i zrobiłem szybki reserach od razu zdecydowałem że będziemy migrować, ponieważ ostatnio coraz bardziej denerwowała mnie prędkość z jaką lemmy wdraża nowe funkcje. Jest to w zasadzie tempo ślimacze. Lemmy już istnieje od wielu lat i powinien być zdecydowanie lepszy, miec lepszy UX, być bardziej przystępny itd. Ktoś to chyba zauważył i po prostu zdecydował się zrobić konkurencyjną platformę.

Jesli chodzi o migrację to nietsety ale na nowym fedicie nie będzie widocznych waszych starych linków. Niestety piefed nie oferuje kompletnych narzędzi migracyjnych na ten moment. Zostawię jednak bazę danych w razie gdyby w przyszłości ktoś zrobił porządne narzędzie i wtedy może dałoby radę tamte posty jakoś przywrócić. Chociaz jeśli zaczniemy tworzyć już nowe społeczności na piefedzie to może być to utrudnione, ciężko powiedzieć. Na pewno dobrze jest tworzyć społeczności o tej samej nazwie jak na starym fedicie. Zdaje się że jest możliwa jakaś migracja kont, tzn będzie można po utworzeniu kont na nowym fedicie pobrać instancje które się followowało na starym fedicie. Dam znać jak to zrobić

Jeśli oczywiście PieFed z jakiegoś powodu okaże się jeszcze większym niewypałem to włączę z powrotem lemmiego, nic nie będę kasował, po prostu wyłączę i przeniosę domenę fedit.pl na piefeda. Ale wątpię. Wydaje mi się że PieFed to kolejny krok w rozwoju fediverse.

Przemyślenia? Mógłbym ewentualnie przenieść obecnego fedita na jakąś poddomenę żebyście w razie czego mogli się cofnąć do starych postów.

Będę chciał postawić piefeda w ciągu najbliższych kilku dni.

It almost looks like there are certain keywords that when their ears and brains detect, there is some trigger which causes brain areas responsible for logic and rationality to shut down.

And another thought I just had that i find interesting , is that it looks like there is plenty of white Americans, that shit on their own country because of slavery, but there is very small number of Germans that do the same because of WW2. Leftist Germans don't hate their own country because of war attrocities, they focus their energy on stuff like LGBT, immigrant rights etc. I'm guessing it has to do with the fact that in war mainly white people were killed. Concetnration camps killed 3 million Jews and 3 million Poles. As bad as it sounds that leads to conclusion that nowadays white person has less "value" for these people, and what's craziest it looks like that agenda is pushed by whites themselves as well.

In such moments I'm glad I was born in Poland and that Poland had nothing to do with slavery and was on the good side in world wars. We don't have any internal guilt feelings sitting on shoulders that I'm sure is the case for some Americans or western Europeans.

Seriously, the pace of lemmy development is like russian frontline progress in Ukraine. Maybe something is up here considering devs are most likely Russians.

Have we had any serious updates in last year? I don't recall tbh. UI is the same, funcionalities are the same. Usability still is garbage, users are confused. I'm confused, although I'm over a year on lemmy. I only use my own instance because interactions with the rest of fediverse is confusing as f**.

Checking up https://fedidb.com/ and https://fediverse.observer/stats confirms that. Fedidb even stopped showing charts, I assume because it looks bad othwerwise they would proudly present the growth. Observer shows us that total number is going up, but it looks like folks just quickly check and leave cause number of active users is still the same.

Guy that entusiastically regularly posted weekly fediverse updates here https://fediversereport.com/fediverse-report-122/ stopped doing that 3 months ago. Posted for over 2 years and suddenly no message from him.

It was probably suggested before, but the topic is not raised too often so here goes the solution:

1. We introduce two types of threads - normal and "controversial/heated/political" (probably there is a better name)

Normal type is for "technical" discussions, where the best answer is accepted as best by some very large percentage of people, lest say 90-99%. The treshold could be a matter of discussion, but you get the idea. So that would be questions like "How to fix dead radiator in PC", "Whats best way to do this or that"

Controversial is for discussion where there is potentially lot of disagreement, but also where there could be just some disagreement, but we want to hear other points of view. So all of the political things, questions about genders, etc, everythign that creates heated conversation. Probably could also be used for humourous topics.

The thread type is set while opening a thread, but it can be changed any time during the discussion by forum moderator

1. We leave normal type discussion as they are on reddit/lemmy whatever. For controversial first when user enters the thread, all of the comments are sorted in random order. All of the comments vote scores are hidden. Now user casts votes in "one go". Only until they finish casting votes, other votes are visible for them. Changing already casted votes on these threads is NOT POSSIBLE. They unfortunately cant vote on new comments which were added after they voted. THey are only allowed to vote once. TBH users dont usually come back to threads after they visited them once so its not like we make some common behaviour impossible

This way we eliminate sheep behaviour and demand making their own decision by user. And we force user to be responsible for making a decision. Someone might argue that we sometimes change mind, but it doesnt matter, cause the number of times we change minds is really tiny and the gained changed behaviour is far more valuable. After everything is visible for user they can now sort by most popular comments which is now available.

That should be it. We also might introduce thread freezing if necessary.

What do you think? And also, since lemmy is open source, do you think there is a change that some bigger instance migght create a fork that introduces some of these changes as an experiment?

Cause I opened this post https://lemmy.world/post/25293743 where they complain that there are some conservative subreddits on reddit now.

Interacting on instances which are not yet discoverd and connected to instance where we are registered is pain in the ass. Copying URL into search bar? That is really repelling. I'm sure it was discussed before but I can't find this discussion. How to make it easier? Do devs need to make changes to protocol or it's enough and it can be done within the apps themselves? How close are we to the solution?

My lemmy users per capita guess: 1. Russia 2. Finland. I can understand Russia cause developers are from there but why Finland?

Myślę że przydatny. Na ten moment działa tylko w społecznościach polityka i wiadomości. Muszę ręcznie dodać inne społeczności, więc jak coś to piszcie gdzie byście go chcieli. Mam pomysł na nową społeczność specjalnie do tego, np "jaksiezestarzeje".
