pict-rs 0.60
Has anyone tried running Lemmy with one of the release candidates for pict-rs 0.60?
The new TLS feature for using a custom CA store will help me redirect the image proxy for Imgur through my rimgo instance.

Had a slow day yesterday so thought, why not wipe the gaming PC and put Linux on it.
I work with Linux every day for work so I wanted a debian-based distro as that's what I'm most familiar with. After a short impulsive-driven search, I picked pika-os. Never heard of it but thought I'd give it a go.
Picked KDE, installed the OS, booted first time and immediately regretted it. No network. I have a 2.5G Realtek 8125 nic and whilst it was detected, it was showing RX packets as "dropped". Couldn't install firmware-realtek as it conflicted with linux-firmware. Tried the Realtek website, what a mess that is, compiled a driver, couldn't get it to load. Ended up finding a git repo that created .deb packages for all realtek drivers.
Got network up and running and its all been great from there. Last time I tried this in 2021 I had loads of issues but so far, other than having to download a later version of Proton and select it in a game, or add some command-line arguments in Steam, its been great!
I'm so surprised that every app I normally use on Windows is either available as a Linux native app, works with emulation (bottles) or there is a decent alternative.
Definitely, 100%, the Linux desktop is ready.
Playing Doom Eternal and the UAC avatar told me some truth.
Every morning I grab a coffee and either sit outside with the fluffy butts or I bring one inside and read Lemmy with them on my lap. Best start to the day.
Typing this from my phone as I'm out cruising on the bike :) it's gonna rain soon so planning to do some updates when I get home later today.
I'll upgrade to latest Lemmy, I think we are 2 versions behind.
I'll also relax the image dimensions and movie size restrictions for the image proxy which I've noticed have prevented some image posts from working.
I don't know exactly what time it'll be but sometime shortly after 1300 UK
Update 2025-09-14 10:01: Real-life got in the way of the update yesterday. Updates have now been applied and we are now on 0.9.13. Also updated frontends and added blorp at https://b.lazysoci.al/ (thanks @[email protected])
Update 2025-09-14 10:29: Removed additional restrictions on dimensions of video uploads for the image proxy, this has resolved at least one example of the "too wide" error received for some images. It is now using the defaults, will see if there are any other examples and adjust if needed.
Does anyone else use a flowerpot?
What temperature do you use? What glass would you recommend?
This is the device: https://www.cannabishardware.com/collections/flowerpot-vaporizer
No I'm not affiliated. Weed is new to me and want to explore how best to use this.
but @LadyButterfly is killing it in my feed.
I just wanted to tell you how great you all are.
I moved to Lemmy shortly before the mass exodus from Reddit in 2023. I eventually created an instance of my own and to begin with, leaving Reddit felt like a mistake.
I could browse Lemmy's equivalent of /r/all top-last-24-hours in about 15 minutes, so my doom-scroll time plummeted. I was better for it. However, I still yearned for the meme laughs and thought provoking comment threads of Reddit. Lemmy had them, but they were much fewer.
Fast forward to today. My instance is hosting a popular up and coming community, of which I'm honoured, even if I'm not welcome. The top-24-hour of all posts is now more than enough to satisfy my needs. I laugh at memes, I get to share posts I found on Lemmy with friends and family, I'm exposed to more cultures than just American which is a real refreshing change.
It isn't mainstream, and I think its better for it. It has its own culture, and we are beginning to get all meta with Lemmy in-jokes which I think is both annoying and awesome at the same time (ie. Hussain memes).
Overall, I am just really happy for Lemmy and am glad to be sharing it with all of you. May the good times continue.
The shield is a great device, but I'm starting to notice some considerable lag at times.
Before I factory reset it, is there a good alternative?
I have an older Apple TV I'm going to try but I'd prefer to stay Android.
Features I'd want are
I love this guy with every fibre of my being. He is 14yr old and starting to show his age. He has had a great life but I get all teary knowing that I'll out live him.
Can't wait. Super excited. Visiting France, Brussels, Germany, Netherlands.
I was just thinking. In the UK government every cabinet minister, which are those with specific jobs like head of education, or health, also has an opposite "shadow" person from the other main party whose job is to argue with the other. Imagine you had the job of Shadow head of education. Must be an easy job, you just argue with the other guy. But then your party wins the election and things just got real. You got to do the job for serious now.
Sync grabs images using an option for max length of 1500px, so the super long images are just a smattering of pixels that barely represent the original image.
I can't find a way in the app to get a better quality version. I end up opening a web browser to view.
