Or Prince of Egypt which has one of the best soundtracks and great animation. I'm not a Christian but even I know about the damn plague that got those little Egyptian kids.

What is your weird obsession?
Gotta smell the inside of a cup or bowl when taking it out of the pantry. If it smells wrong, I have to wash it first. I don't know why.

10 days after 3rd party reddit app shutdown, Lemmy's top 10 instances combine for a thriving userbase of 234,000

Not really. They never wanted a large instance and didn't want to become a Reddit replacement. I see them more like a federated Tildes, honestly.

ELI5: How is Amazon able to sell me books so much cheaper than brick and mortar book stores in my area
Amazon does not make any profit from their books. They are able to sell them cheaply because they sell them at a loss. They weren't even profitable for a long time and maintained thanks to investors. Basically, Bezos sold the idea of the future of his store's worth. And it worked.

I actually think about this. All those houses that are streets away from the beach are going to make so much more in the future because the beach will move.

What's your favorite memory from the early internet?
Roleplaying in AOL chatrooms. I remember joining this group who roleplayed as vampires and hanging out in the "local tavern." I was only 9 and in hindsight half of what people were doing was hooking up, but it made me love writing.
Later on, I really enjoyed LiveJournal and staying up way too late reading fanfiction with my friends on AIM/MSN messenger.
Early Google. When AskJeeves fizzled away but SEO and ads hadn't taken over.

Like all social media, you have to curate it. I follow hashtags for cats, books, writing, fandoms, etc. The rage is minimum then because my homepage doesn't have politics or news. I actually do follow a couple of news sources, but their stuff is surrounded by an ocean of fun things so it's not nearly as bad.

Wouldn't they deny your money because of the dates? You'd have to ensure you only have cash from pre-2003.

Very Confused...
To subscribe to outside communities on the instance that you signed up on, go to the search bar on your instance and type in the name of the community @ instance with an exclamation at the beginning.
For example, if you want to follow the Jokes community on lemmy.ml, you would type into your search bar: ![email protected]. It will pop up and you click on it, which will take you to the community. Click on where it says sidebar and you should see the subscribe. You do this for all the communities you want to sign up for that are not apart of your instance.

This is a feeling wheel! This is used to help you find the best description for what you're going through and over time improve your ability to identify your feelings.

When people feel skeptical, this is often inline with a more defensive feeling, which leads to anger. At least that's how I took it.

Should new kitten be fully vaccinated before introducing to an existing family cat?
it appears that the kitten is partially vaccinated? i assume at the initial vaccination they tested for the major diseases that affect cats and it came back negative, so introduction is likely fine. i am not a vet, but i have done this multiple times in my households and have felt comfortable after the first round of vaccines since my other cats are all up-to-date and have a flea/tick regimen.
initial introduction should be super slow anyway. unless both cats are chill, they shouldn't be too close to one another for extended periods and without supervision.

I think up to season 5 are fine. Season 6 is starts the downhill trash spiral. Season 5 also ends well enough you could watch until that point and move on with your life. A few holes left but your own imagination would be a better ending.

Same. 30s, healthcare, no linux. Not even tech savvy at all, but I can follow directions well enough.

This is one of mine, too. My partner and I used to work for this store that sold used instruments and sound equipment. She told one of the testers it was my favorite song, so for six months, any time he tested something, he would play it. Randomly one day he came up to me and asked if I enjoyed the music he'd been using because I never said anything, and I explained that I hated that song. He was absolutely shocked and then laughed and told me what my partner had told him. It was a good prank, despite my suffering.

They could have used the Silmarillion instead. That thing is chock full of information a lot of people don't know that could have been used.

Like...stale or just...weird? I don't know how to describe it. If it only smells like glass or cleaning such, it's good. Anything else is bad.

It's a subtly, yeah. There's a lot of reading between the lines along, which is annoying if you're not used to it.

It took me a while to figure out. Like I knew Southerners can be mean and judgy, but I didn't think about how until I traveled to other places and saw how much more straightforward people are. It's nice when kindness is kindness and there's no underlying meaning.
