Meh, I see it as a free 'filter' of sorts. If-you're going to judge someone's value as a life partner based on the type of phone they have, then you're probably not the type of person I'd want to be with anyway.

What's your secret ingredient that makes your version of a common dish better than anyone else's?
I recently started grinding spices by hand with a mortar/pestle and salt/pepper mills, and it really made a difference. Now everything smells very nice, which really made all of the food I prepare much better. Less of a secret ingredient, but it's usually better to always have fresh spices / ingredients on hand (if possible)

It is essential to stop using Chrome. Under the pretense of saving users from third-party spyware, Google is creating an ecosystem in which Chrome itself is the spyware.
Firefox main since 2020. Love it.

Holy crap I didn't know Syncthing existed and just realized it's perfect for my use case (taking D&D notes and keeping them on multiple devices). Thanks for the useful comment!

What's a random act of kindness that's stuck with you?
I was working retail checkout on Christmas day several years ago and the store was nearly completely dead (it was near 3pm). My feet were sore and I really wanted to go home to our family reunion with a bunch of cousins and extended family, so I had finished all of my normal responsibilities early, but wasn't allowed a seat since I had already used my break a few hours prior. My boss then left for a few moments, and a kind customer spoke to me a moment or two as I scanned their items, and asked how I was doing. I said "Alright", but must not have been very convincing because they offered me a hug on their way out. I left the job the next year, and am in a much better place now with a wonderful boss, but I still remember that hug.

You can drive 74 hours and still be in Germany. The American mind cannot comprehend this.

FancyZones was great, now I use Pop!_OS's tiling feature. It's a bit different, but I like the additional keybinds for controlling window movement.
