I would like to go to there

just a reminder that survivorship bias is a huge thing. There have been shitty products from back then too. Many. We just don't see them now, because only the few good products have survived. The same happens today.

Its not all planned obsolescence and not all obsolescence is bad. Imagine having a 40 year old fridge that doesn't cool shit and burn 3 times the energy.

2 tips for good quality products now: end capitalism and spend money on the right products (not just convenience) and the right people to repair them.

Scrum

I am so sorry to everybody here who never saw the real agile. All you ever saw was fake / wasabi scrum. The little side gig scrum with the tickets and the sprints and a scrum master without any power to change a company is a frustrating distraction for everybody.

As soon as the team makes their own decisions and the bosses in every level actually help them on this, they can become agile and the framework just a communication theme.

only the top is in the burning chamber. The paint will cause friction when the piston should roll veeeery smoothly over the crank and when moving upside down in the cylinder. There are plenty of engine failures in these areas even without paint.

Rush hour traffic in Utrecht, Netherlands 🇳🇱

Reply in thread

this is exactly anti-bicylce-propaganda. There are by far more deadly accidents involving cars and trucks than involving bikes and pedestrians. You are afraid of the wrong thing. Also you are describing the results of car focused infrastructure, that hasn't been effectively planned for cyclists nor pedestrians. The dutch people are not much different than you or me, they just made the infrastructure right and assimilated it over the years. The close calls you are describing look harmless in the video, when you realize that even if there were an accident, not much would happen. But we still get many car-related deaths. Do you see what i mean?

Which city are you in and what does the car infrastructure look like in the street you are describing?

Chat Control 2.0

The wording of that message wiggles around a lot. When you read it again, you realize there can be:

  • almost every monitoring of online communications (just not 'general')
  • all chat scanning (just no chat 'control')
  • everything can be detected (just child abuse will be searched for AND detected)
  • sneak peaking at everybody's chats is ok. (But 'detection orders' need a thorough process)

This is the language of some one who knows is guilty

Escalating Threats to Midterm Elections, Bannon Says Trump Will ‘Have ICE Surround the Polls’

When Hitler was choosing his cabinet, he made Göhring Minister of the interior, which was head of the police. Then they put their SS inside of the Reichstag, when they cast the vote if Hitler should have absolute power (for a limited time, to solve a fake issue). The police, now under Göhring, didn't stop them. The SS stood everywhere, shouting Nazi paroles and threatening the Reichstag-members to apply violence if the vote does not come out their way. Back then in the Reichstag, voting wasn't anonymous. The deed was done. Some brave leftists still openly said they cannot vote yes, many were later captured and killed. Hitler obviously just cancelled the limited time part and kept the absolute power.

Many Germans later regretted, not having fought more, when they saw it all coming.

Guys, everything was alarming so far. Announcing to have ICE at the polls is even more alarming. You cannot have the Shitler get that far, where it is too late. You must act now!

Good luck over there, regards from Germany.

Windows Marketshare since 2010

A couple of peaks of unknown seem to match very nicely with the windows graph, if you invert it. I think the two big windows crashes we see are measuring differences or re-categorization effects. ... or how about brand new or discontinued versions of windows, that were not counted as windows yet?
