Why do i have to trash this??

Reply in thread

So much information on this thread is also just wrong. Like the comment or above said you can keep your vials and my doctor told me to as well. In my experience, Estradiol doesn’t go bad very quickly if you keep it sterile (you look at the color and throw it away if it gets cloudy or changes color). Keep it out of sunlight and follow the package instructions for a cool and dry place.

As for it being sterile, it is important that you do the drawing out of the vial properly. Make sure it is a sterile needle, and that you use a small enough needle gauge (I have had the best of luck between 23g and 25g) so that you do not core your vial (little rubber pieces that fall in). Putting the needle in at an angle also helps. When you pull it out the rubber stopper is supposed to be self sealing. As another comment said you can also wipe the top with an alcohol wipe before drawing. If you are having issues with the process I would see if you can get an appointment for someone at planned parenthood to show you.

Also the month expiration is just what was tested as safe, they didn’t actually test what the maximum is as it is for the manufacturers liability, so at the end of the day it’s your decision

Anyone else?

Yes, and learning more about autism has been game changing for me. Now I know that burnout can and will happen and that I’ll likely need more time than I think I do

Tips for new transfem people?

A lot was already mentioned, so I’ll just add a couple of things. One resource I used to help me understand if I was trans was https://genderdysphoria.fyi/en/

Laser can be very euphoric, and if you have the right skin tone/ hair color it can be very effective. Also, lots of places have packages that go on sale or Groupons.

voice training is something you can do wherever you are in your transition, and depending where you are / what insurance you can get a speech language pathologist that specializes (or at least is familiar with) in trans voice training.

Also adding on to the other suggestions about clothing, just be aware that your body changes shape on E, so clothing may start fitting differently as time passes if you end up doing hrt. For me trying cloths before hrt was not as euphoric until after my body started changing shape so if you do hrt it is something to look forwards to. It also can take a while for changes and they don’t necessarily happen in the same order for everyone. For me my boobs started growing in the first month but now it’s been over a year and I have just started noticing fat redistribution in my legs and face.

Social changes are similar and it’s up to you how quickly or slowly you go. For me it was a lot of pressure to explain to people what I was doing (especially because I am not doing a purely binary transition) and one of the best pieces of advice I got is that you don’t owe anyone, including people close to you, answers until you are ready to give them. Similarly you don’t have to be the one to explain what being trans means to you to every person that asks you. Overall, although it can be challenging, transitioning at your own pace can be really fun as you figure things out and get to decide a lot about who you are

atoms don't touch

Orbitals are actually an approximation, which is what part of the confusion is. The exact math is beyond me, but the idea is that the orbitals represent the most likely place for an electron to be, not the only place. Lots of probability involved, including with how electrons react with each other. Chemical reactions that do happen are just the most likely event, but when you atom by atom things can get really weird. At that scale electron don’t really obey classical physics (which is what intuition usually expects). As a more concrete example, if you take a chemistry class, you probably learn that electrons like to group in pairs of two, which is weird if you think about two negative charges grouping together, but (once a gain with math that I don’t claim to understand) quantum physics does explain this (because of electron “spins” which do not spin like in a classical physics sense) even though it is not intuitive from classical mechanics. Similarly orbital rules break down at some points, such as carbon able to to have 4 bonds (the s and p orbital have very similar energy levels if I remember the chemistry right), which you can’t get from the simplified orbitals.

Is there a term for someone who is ok with the rest of their body, but wishes they had the other genitals?

There is a lot of spectrum on the binary, and dysphoria doesn’t always have to be an all or nothing thing, some people are okay with parts of there body, but have dysphoria from other things like social roles and expectations (I’m referencing my own experience here). This really helped me think about dysphoria as something that can take many different shapes and forms for different people : https://genderdysphoria.fyi/en

One of the parts I am enjoying about exploring gender is that you can figure out what it all means for you
