Mastodon's official stance on Threads

That is so naive thinking I’m my opinion. They probably gonna use that in the long run to connect only their apps (like you can comment on Facebook from IG). Why would they want people outside of their ecosystems to connect with them? I deleted all their apps and I’m gonna do it with every Fediverse app that federate with them. I know that data in Fediverse is public but I wanted to join community-driven ecosystem outside of Meta.

*Permanently Deleted*

  • I deleted all my Meta accounts and started using Signal.
  • I'm moving all accounts linked to Gmail and Outlook to Proton Mail and Tutanota.
  • I'm using many privacy-oriented extensions on Firefox.
  • I'm trying to change all software to Open Source if that's possible.
  • I have a Nextcloud and i'm using it to sync my Calendar, Task and Photos.
  • I started using Bitwarden for my passwords (and deleted them from all Microsoft, Apple and Google cloud services).
  • I'm setting up my home server to host Nextcloud and Bitwarden.

How do I transition my friends from Instagram DMs to Signal as a Gen Z individual in the US?

I deleted Facebook and Instagram and joined Signal. Not everybody transitioned (instead they wanted me to join WhatsUp lol), but it was a good decision in the long run.

Of course not everybody will transition as well, but let me tell you those who did (in my case) are those who want to be really in contact with you. For the rest I use SMS and E-mail like in the old days haha. You just have to hope that eventually they will join.

It's really hard decision that you have to think about (it took me some time) but I just say "F*** that" and just did it. Until I remove my Fb and Ig they think that I wasn't going to do it but well ^^.

[Question] If you could witness any historical event firsthand, which one would you choose and why?

I would like to definitely see some medieval battes: Agnicourt and Crécy (and witness how those big French armies lose with relatively small English forces) Siege of Orléans (seeing Jeanne d’Arc live in action would be so awesome) Grunwald 1410 (since I’m Polish I really would like to see that haha) Siege of Rhodes 1480 (witnessing how small Hospitallers forces withstand huge Turkish army) Outside of medieval battles I definitely would like to see Winged Hussars charge in Vienna.
