Baldur's Gate 3 - Hotfix #9 Now Live

Reply in thread

Try to see it like a choose your own adventure instead of "gotta catch 'em all". I find it helps to have a soft rule against savescumming for myself - if I make a mistake, my character made that. The only times I let myself reload is if the outcome of what I did was unclear, and went entirely against what I thought it would do.

What's your Sci-Fi unpopular opinion?

To be fair to the man: The early Foundation stuff was written in the late 1940s and early 50s, and he later freely admitted (it’s in his second autobiography, I, Asimov) that as a huge science/science fiction nerd he had no idea how to write women and avoided it.

The dirty secret to making sci-fi believable

This was the whole ethos of the first Star Wars films - Lucas made a point of getting everything look worn, to the point of having a term for it: the "used universe". Exemplified by C-3PO's whole look, Luke's clothes or even Han Solos's sweaty shirt.

It's a shame he seems to have completely forgotten this when it was time to make the prequels...

I really cannot understand why everyone gets so excited by Rogue One. It’s a story that there was absolutely no need to tell, and I felt it only cheapens the stakes of both itself and A New Hope. Besides, the plot is barely coherent at times, with characters who are worked up into huge deals being left behind without any meaningful affect on the story. I liked the Vader scene, I’ll give it that.

Helldivers II sales top 12 million

Reply in thread

Arrowhead has less than 100 employees. Helldivers 1 sold much, much less than 2. It has an all-time peak of 6,744 players, and that was seven years ago.

These were the conditions going in. I’m sure they’re trying to scale up and meet the insane demand for bug fixes and content, but that ain’t done in two months. In most respects this is a small developer who hasn’t planned for this kind of popularity.
