I just found out they are building three data centers in the county south to me. I only found out because the road I prefer to take to my dispensary has been closed for like a month. There should be a state wide referendum or approval needed for that sort of thing, not just the county or city, they will effect everyone for a huge radius around them, not to mention it's not just THEIR water to give away to these companies, it's all OUR water. These companies have shown us zero reason we should trust them with a resource so great as that it's appalling

I've noticed a huge uptick in that type of phrasing ever since the tea party bullshit, but it probably started long before that, I know they have people specifically working on this type of thing and unfortunately they seem to be very good at it

There is no other purpose for these monstrosities other than to make money for some people who really do not deserve it, offloading all computing to a giant wasteful mega structure is not the way of the future

Yeah I'm not saying it's all their fault either, and I am just as much of a product of that culture it's inescapable. I would agree with you there, but from the start we have always loved a story about someone coming from nothing, it's a story we have been telling ourselves over and over in this country, and while it happens it requires a great deal of support around you and that is never mentioned by anyone. It has gone way downhill since Reagan I would say, the 80s was just a supercharged consumerism culture here, which pits people against each other because when you have your neighbors competing against each other over who has the biggest house or boat or nicest car or whatever, they are spending spending spending. Lifestyles of the rich and famous, Cribs, celebrity worship, all that junk is to blame too

It's just part of life? I've gone through this a few times in my head now. I don't think a lot of people particularly like deceiving other persons on a day to day basis, but with our jobs it's often something that comes just built in already. We can't be totally honest about the products of the company we work for, if we did we would probably be fired. There are dozens of such scenarios in each day where we have to omit something or not be totally honest when you are dealing with business because business requires that you be dishonest, or rather, not yourself, a representative of the company
