At least it gives us plenty of mildly infuriating content!

Anyone else run so many services locally that sometimes you don't immediately notice your internet is out?
That is impressive. I host a fair amount at home but do rely on lots of cloud services too. My doorbell won’t ring on all my smart speakers if the internet is down!

Someone Sideswiped My Car in the Walmart Parking Lot...
Oof. Had that happen outside my house once (lived on a very narrow street). I don't know how people can just drive off without leaving their details!

iPhone 14 Pro Max. I know, I know, but the battery life can’t be beat. Great speaker, screen and camera too. Used to have a Huawei P30 Pro that was awesome though

Why does nobody ever mention Emby? To me, it’s everything Plex used to be before it got enshittified!

Is Usenet an option for /Piracy?
Reply in thread
The main reason it might be used is it integrates very well with services such as Sonarr/Radarr which can auto-download TV shows/movies if you have a good indexer. That and generally the Usenet servers do not keep access logs so it tends to be a lot safer than torrenting. For software/games etc. I would stick with torrents, but for TV/Movies if you have your own server Usenet is a compelling service.

What do you use for self hosting a streaming service like Geforce Now?
I use parsec to play retro games with my mates by streaming from my pc. Works really well!

Would me self-hosting a personal instance make things worse for everyone else?
I did just that, set up for me and some friends. Working nicely so far although takes a bit of time to get enough stuff federated!

Warfare MMO Foxhole is adding naval combat complete with huge multi-person ships

Absolutely. It really depends what you want to do. Jump straight into the frontline meat grinder and you’ll be able to dip out whenever you like. You could even do some basic logistics runs in that time. Start building bases or factories and that’s when there’s a huge time commitment lol
