The RTS genre will never be mainstream unless you change it until it's 'no longer the kind of RTS that I want to play,' says Crate Entertainment CEO

I want an actual real time strategy game. All popular RTSs are actually just about tactics and micro. I mean every SC2 guide will tell you that up to a very high level of play, if you're just doing more you'll be more efficient and win regardless of strategy. Why can't you just set a standing order of "make unit x" or "make unit x while we have gas until we get to 50 of them"? That's strategy. Having to tab back to a building and manually queue a couple of units every several seconds is just creating busywork for players, but thats what's necessary and optimal for playing SC2 and most RTS games well

This is correct though. The first line didn't say "given name" or "first name"

The correct way to fill out that paper as asked would be "peter Parker" and "Parker"

Beware the Tech Bro Pipeline

7 figures??? That's not selling out, that's just trying to get anything for a sinking ship if you sell for a million. Thats barely covering salary+expenses for 2-5 engineers depending on level and location.

"No algorithms"??

What do you think "Hot" is? What do you think "active" is? There is some ranking algorithm that picks what to show. If you want to be pedantic, even "top" or "new" are algorithms.

Trump Officials Consider Suspending Habeas Corpus for Detained Migrants

Reply in thread

This administration has repeatedly shown not to care about the status or criminal history of any non-US-born person. Also, they have revoked the status of legal migrants to be able to call them "illegal migrants" directly after, despite them doing everything correctly and being in America legally until the rug was pulled out from under them.

And aside from all of that, why are we okay with the government even thinking of doing this to anybody??? That should be a major red flag even as something they are considering. But based on their previous actions, it's definitely something they want to do, which is even worse

EDIT: Just realized your username is "freedom advocate". You of all people should be against this.

Electric cars: The equivalent of switching from binge drinking whiskey to binge drinking wine.

Reply in thread

I think both sides are lacking nuance here. If you shit on people getting electric vehicles or just thinking of getting one because that's not far enough: fuck you. But also, for people that just switched or are thinking of getting one but then see something like this and slam into reverse and say "I'm gonna support ICE cars till the day I die to spite those overly hostile woke liberals": fuck you too.

People should be able to take the information in a more nuanced way, and should stop swinging from extreme to extreme which has led to the current fucked state of politics

Hacker News: APIs for content sites must be free

Ads, like Reddit does and reddit makes a ton of money. If they weren't trying to make nft integrations or new TikTok and just had the staff it took to keep the lights on, it would be a stable successful business.

But the greedy execs want more money so they act like they have no choice but to squeeze the users for everything they can. This is their choice, not a necessity.
