Weekly thread - How is your week going?

It’s… ok. I’m still generally stressed out. Possibly seeing some progress on a major stressor. It will take some time to know for sure. I did make caramel sauce this week. It was an attempt to make caramel apples. But the recipe didn’t give a temp. I think i will try again with a recipe that gives temps. And I’ll go camping for one night soon. It will be nice to get away for just one night. Hopefully managing all the gear isn’t too much trouble for such a short stay

Sweet potato harvest!

I’m not sure what kind they are. I picked up sweet potatoes in the spring perported to be from a nearby farn. I figured if they were grown near my town, they should do well enough for me.

Sorry you’re struggling with clay. I’ve been growing mine in raised beds. I think I put in two parts compost, two parts peat moss, one part pearlite. I have one bed that was about a foot deep and it did ok. But the plants really seemed to love the two foot deep area. Second year growing sweet potatoes and first year giving them more depth.

What kind of amendments have you been adding? Are you noticing any progress towards better sweet potatoes?

Do moles drive voles out of their habitat?

I haven’t seen any voles around. But i certainly have a mole in the garden. One year i watered deeply and it came out of its tunnel. It was beautiful and i felt so rude.

I always put hardware cloth on the bottom of my raised beds. Idk whether it’s working or completely unnecessary. But I haven’t experienced pest pressure from underground
