So much about this judement is so distressingly wrong.

Is this community just going to become about schadenfreude? Because if so that's fine, but it's not what I'm looking for and I'd rather unsubscribe.

I think it might speak to other parents who are not accepting? Like it shows that someone who also thought like them was open to having their mind changed. They might be more willing to listen to her story.

Update: I found the original article. It's very light on details and only mentions there was a time some years ago where Tamzin struggled with accepting her son's identity. Still, it's nice (to me, anyway) to see a positive development arc.

First of all, I understand this concern and empathise. I am a very private person and also have a high level of distrust for centralised systems and beaurocracy.

It depends on how much you trust your therapist. You could ask them not to transcribe the portion of your session where you talk about politics. Also, it's possible that the notes your therapist makes will not contain specific details of what you talk about, and instead be observations about what concerns you, and why you feel concerned.

At the very least, I would suggest asking your therapist the same question you've asked here: how can you be open and honest when you have these concerns? Your therapist may be able to address these concerns to your satisfaction. And if you don't feel comfortable or safe asking your therapist this, then this might be a sign that your therapist hasn't earned your trust (yet).

Oh yeah I fully agree, it throws multiple peoples under the bus. The thing is, trying to argue about biology with them is almost pointless because the proponents of this anti-trans rhetoric don't actually care about what they call "biological facts". The fact that they have based a legal ruling on a premise that is widely understood to be mistaken shows this.

They just want to punch down and punish the people whose mere existence challenges their preconceptions.

I mean, independence is just doing things for yourself. Even if you're living with parents, you can start with these things:

• cooking your own meals
• buying your own food
• washing up the items you've used for cooking and eating
• washing your own clothes
• keeping your room clean

Bonus if you start doing some of these for your parents, too. I'm sure they'll appreciate it!

If these departments can no longer function because there aren't any capable employees it gives Trump's administration the excuse to replace those institutions with new ones that are directly accountable to him.

It's admirable that the people who have resigned did so because they don't want any part in what's happening, but I don't think it counts as uplifting news 😢
