Honestly ratings from reviews should just be "would you recommended reading this book y/n?" at least until people learn how to write reviews subjectively and about the actual content not something unrelated such as shipping issues. We all vote far too inconsistently as a whole for more granular ratings to mean a damn thing might as well reduce that down.

I do like your point, but do believe we need far more criteria to make sense of these reviews. Yes we should remove the fluff reviews of users who wouldn't have liked the genre to begin with, but why stop there? There's so many variables that need to be considered where typical genre is one, but what about a person's intellect? If they disliked a book because they simply could not understand it from any angle would that apply to myself or any one of us? How would someone convey that in a review? How likely are these individuals to be that self aware? We can move to other areas too like political affiliation, one's culture, ones preferences in life in general or their experiences. The list goes on. While I do think removing the low hanging fruit such as "I hate romance but I read this because of a book club and yep I hated it" or review bombs or whatever else that isn't actually an issue with the book itself. Determining this sentiment without a significant amount of false positives would be rather difficult, and at what point do we consider a person to be a fan enough of a genre? What about new people to resding or a new account?

Privilege blinds you to reality. If you've never faced systematic abuse, been hunted by your skin color for your membership to a belief, hanging in fear to leave your home, getting stopped or shot by police with zero cause. You're never going to get it.

Living under constant terror isn't something you can understand unless you've felt it. And words? They matter, sure, but sometimes they're just the warning before whatever comes next.

Its pretty abysmal in the way of hardware security, and software. The gOS team did a deep dive on alternative devices to the pixel. Only device even close to the pixel was Samsung, but well... Samsung hates their consumers it seems and refuses to open their devices.

Depending on what you value and expect from a "more" private device than the main hardware brands and their software these are not particularly secure physically, and to some extent via software. It's somewhere between pixel flavor of Android and grapheneos. Steps in the right direction. I will be watching for future versions especially as they come to be viable in the US.

Edit: That is opinionated as in the architectural decisions and trade offs made to reach a certain level of protection not as in bias or "opinions". Aka software usage of opinionated in the way that a framework might be.

Edit Two: Listed graphene as the high end of security for our current offerings in the consumer space that are still considered full featured smart phones. iOS is also a contender, but they aren't as concerned with privacy as grapheneos is. They are a business first. Privacy for them while it does exist is a means to an end. Marketing doing it's thing.

You know we could just upload an unedited photo to a platform, and then that platform keeps it unedited on a server. Then before exposing to web uses the latest poisoning service periodically. Remove the old edited photo, and apply again to the "raw" with the new updated service. Problem solved. Not super efficient, but still a solution made while shitting on the toilet. Not disagreeing with OPs headline, but vegetables particularly leafy things are very prone to similar. Even if indirectly through fertilizers of something. In the last few weeks here in the US there was a pretty major recall for a similar bacteria. Seems to be one annuallt, but I'll often go longer periods before I head about similar from meat. IMO the issue isn't the product, but the process. We are so hyper focused on profits that shortcuts and risks are taken to increase bottom dollar. These often result in what we have been seeing here.

Ubuntu touch has half a foot in the grave, but keeps getting revived. Fortunately Ubuntu proper works well depending on the flavor you chose regarding your desktop manager. Same for most flavors of Linux. Mint isn't qw critical as it used to be. We are at a phase where I would say most Linux OS are beginner friendly.
