Operation enduring algae

no, it's either a screenshot from - or an AI replication of - the 1996 movie "The Rock" starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage in which the depicted item is a dirty bomb / chemical weapon poised to wipe out San Francisco using Alcatraz as a base of operations.

I sat behind someone on a plane who was using ChatGPT to write the materials and remarks for a sustainability and climate conference.

this made me realize I've only ever been to conferences (in either supply chain or data) because a job made me and I've only ever seen it as a chore. Even attending talks is only to be able to take notes, type notes and send them to colleagues as part of work.

Can confirm in the 1940s you could've gossiped that Tierney twosomed Feldmen the packager against Jackie-look Cassini and be perfectly understood.

You wrote the history book vs You were in the history book
People's memories of school are unreliable and I'm seeing a few comments about how we were "only" taught a couple of things in school.
Here is the current UK history lesson curriculum, summarized
changes within living memory – where appropriate, these should be used to reveal aspects of change in national life
events beyond living memory that are significant nationally or globally for example, the Great Fire of London, the first aeroplane flight or events commemorated through festivals or anniversaries
the lives of significant individuals in the past who have contributed to national and international achievements, some should be used to compare aspects of life in different periods for example, Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria, Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong, William Caxton and Tim Berners-Lee, Pieter Bruegel the Elder and LS Lowry, Rosa Parks and Emily Davison, Mary Seacole and/or Florence Nightingale and Edith Cavell
iron age
Romans
anglo-saxons / Scots
Vikings
Edward the confessor
a local history study of an event after 1066, but can include influence from before e.g. the impact of greco-Roman culture on the medieval period
early civilization (usually egypt)
ancient Greece
ancient non-european culture (usally Islam, Benin or Mayan)
British history in the following epochs:
years 1066 thru 1509
1509 thru 1745
1745 thru 1901
1901 thru modern day
plus at least one non-european study and it's interconnections to world history

I'm 5'6, bisexual, and have done very well across the spectrum of gender. Height - like weight, hair color, skin color... -doesn't particularly denote attractiveness.

TIL about portland
Portland OR was named after Portland ME because a guy won a coin toss and named it after his home town. The other guy wanted to name it "Boston."
Before that it was known as "The Clearing".

Pretty much everyone went to school with some Young Conservative type who was weirdly into politics at a young age.
