Apple still doesn't understand gamers in spite of iPhone being a gaming powerhouse
That is until you encounter your first loot box, gacha, or whatever scheme your game of choice is running.
Ah, the notorious "please uninstall me" button

The daily grind can kill your desire to play even if the game's generous enough to let you continue for free.
I used to play a really generous gacha with that kind of system. The game was legitimately fun at first, but the daily tasks and time-sensitive events wore me down. I wasn't hurting for resources. My gamer achievement-hunting brain was wired to do it all, to the point where it started to feel more like a job than a game. This kind of design is rotten to the core regardless of the price tag. Just let me experience the game at my own pace instead of setting a schedule for me.

"We vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher" because "programming is hard", announce company we're somehow supposed to see as a serious Steam competitor
If you search for Unreal Tournament on the Epic Games Store, it lists them as "Top Results From Other Stores" and points you to a URL that resolves with: Server Not Found.
If Epic care so little about their own products, why should I?

Microsoft file patent for a machine learning system that would "train" itself on your playtime to work out when you'll be least annoyed by in-game ads
That would be all the time, for all time

Reddit is killing RSS feeds and ending public API access because of AI bots

That's how they'll kill it. I have no reason to log into old.reddit anymore because they're removing my access point to the site (RSS).

There's been an option to pause updates for ages now that does not work. Did that finally get updated?

Discord is finally less of a nuisance to update on Linux

And Discord's is particularly bad. Even Windows takes its time between update checks. It's the first thing Discord does every time you launch it.

Going through the settings now. I was using the desktop client because the web browser version didn't support voice activity (only push to talk), but it looks like that's no longer the case?
