I think the worst mobile game bullshit is when the game is actually pretty fun but only lets you do so much every 24 hours without spending money. Like every action costs a resource, and you're only alotted a handful of that resource once every 24 hours so you can do like 2 or 3 things and then you basically can't play anymore until the next day unless you shell out money like it was an arcade machine.
Lootboxes and gacha shit can be annoying but also is easily ignored as it's pretty much optional to engage with if you wanna decorate your character/profile/house/whatever. But you can't ignore mechanics that literally stop you playing the game unless you pony up some cash. At that point, just make it a paid game and not a free one.
The daily grind can kill your desire to play even if the game's generous enough to let you continue for free.
I used to play a really generous gacha with that kind of system. The game was legitimately fun at first, but the daily tasks and time-sensitive events wore me down. I wasn't hurting for resources. My gamer achievement-hunting brain was wired to do it all, to the point where it started to feel more like a job than a game. This kind of design is rotten to the core regardless of the price tag. Just let me experience the game at my own pace instead of setting a schedule for me.
I actually bought Bolatro on iOS recently. I played a little on PC but card games aren’t my jam…. Usually. But the touch controls and haptics offered by using the app make it a much more tactile and interesting game to me. Add to that that it’s a 1 time purchase game with parity to the PC version (as far as I can tell) and it’s a great deal.
Compared to the vast majority of mobile games which are just fancy storefronts to sell microtransactions it’s a breath of fresh air having an actual game on my phone.

THE GAMING INDUSTRY still doesn't understand gamers.
Ah, the notorious "please uninstall me" button

Droid-deck will already make them irrelevant.
