I noticed that discuss.tchncs.de takes REALLY long to load the first time loading the page. It can really take up to a minute till the page is there. When it finally is open it is quite fast, no issues there. Had anyone else noticed that problem?

Maybe someone can help me figure out what causes my problem.

Problem:

• I experience flickering every few minutes.
• I have this on different devices (Mac OS, iPad, Linux) with different browsers (Jellyfin app, Firefox, Safari).
• I don't transcode in my example, but it's also happening when transcoding.
• It is not happening if I download the file and play it locally.
• It happens with all kind of different videos.

I'm not sure what I actually could change to be honest. Could this some kind of Jellyfin bug? Any ideas?

Maybe someone can help me with a problem I’m having, vaguely related to self hosting.

I want to use a domain with let’s encrypt certificates locally. I realise the only way to do this is a (automated) DNS-01 challenge if I don’t want to expose anything to the outside.

Those DNS challenges require my name server to have some kind of API to automate the process. My registrar/name server doesn’t have a API unfortunately.

I want to use the opportunity to switch my registrar and name server in one go, but I’m pretty picky…

My wish list is:

• MFA for general account administration
• scoped tokens or account for API access (don’t need or want to manage everything by API)
• can handle .at domains
• not cloudflare
• registrar and name server should be one entity if possible
• european if possible
• supported by ngnix proxy manager if possible

Backup plan would be picking a registrar which supports DNSSEC for .at domains and use desec.io I guess.

But maybe the hive mind has a good recommendation for me? :)

I reinstalled Librewolf via brew on my Mac and got this message: Warning: librewolf has been deprecated! It will be disabled on 2026-09-01.

Any idea what's happening there?

Would love to have another way to use Librewolf on Mac OS btw... it has to be reinstalled regularly with "brew reinstall librewolf --no-quarantine" because the installation "is broken". Very annoying, but I love Librewolf!

A bit of a long shot, but I guess it doesn't hurt asking.

I'm using Calibre with the library on a network share (I'm aware this is not recommended, however I'm using this for years without any problems on Windows and Mac OS). Recently I gave Linux another shot and I stumbled upon a problem with accessing my network share.

When trying to add this library which is sitting on the network share, the Calibre file explorer doesn't show the network locations I added in Dolphin in the "Remote" tab. Is there any way to convince Calibre to find these network locations without adding the shares in /etc/fstab?

Interssanter Thread, kannte das Tool noch gar nicht. Find es immer noch arg wie wir im Vergleich mit Deutschland in dem Bereich da stehen und wir wenig getan wird.

Bin zwar definitiv kein Fotograph, aber ich find das immer so nett wenn man abends über die Donau fährt und gerade die Sonne unter geht. Generell, auf der Donauinsel sitzen an einem Sommerabend - super. Bis auf die Mücken vielleicht.

Habts ihr irgendwelche Orte die ihr im Sommer besonders nett findet? Muss natürlich nicht nur in Wien sein.

Is this also fixed on tchncs? Beehaw went offline to fix it, so I assume this is pretty important.

Montag ist, vermutlich sind zwar viele schon im Urlaub aber ein paar sind sicher hier geblieben und haben umso mehr zum sudern.

Irgendwas stimmt mit dieser Community nicht. Man kann sie weder über kbin.social finden, noch über einen anderen Lemmy Server subscriben (steht immer auf pending). Noch jemand dieser Probleme? Es scheint wirklich sehr spezifisch nur c/[email protected] zu betreffen.
