They put him in a freaking turtle suit!?!

That's suicide prevention clothing in jails... Dude probably doesn't even have a mattress. It's likely that the only things in his cell are him, the turtle suit, and maaaaybe a bible.

They're called turtle suits because jails are actually pretty cold. Not dangerously so but just cold enough to be uncomfortable. If you're wearing one you're on suicide watch and they don't let you have anything else in your cell. No blankets, mattress, books, underwear, or anything. The only real way to get warm is to get into a fetal position inside of the turtle suit. Like a turtle.

I got a surprise suicide booking in a jail way back by a cop who didn't like me. Kept me in there for 2 weeks with zero human contact. They wouldn't even say your welcome when I thanked them for my food. Found out when I got out that they were telling the court that I wasn't mentally suitable for court.

You lose your mind very quickly in those conditions.... My paranoia is telling me that they definitely want that....

Have your parents ever said something so unhinged that you’re just left standing there like🧍‍♂️?

Just sitting and having a casual lunch with my dad at work. Sack lunches that my mom had made us! When he nonchalantly tells me that women aren't people and only exist for men's enjoyment. I basically completely froze out of shock as he spends the next half hour trying to use excerpts from the Bible to prove his point.

I haven't had a conversation with him since and that was nearly 20 years ago. Also realized that Christianity is not something I want to be associated with.

Funny thing is that he used to be adamant that god uses Parkinson's to punish only the worst sinners and he's got it now... Apparently there was some engine cleaning solvent my mom desperately tried to get him to stop using? The government banned it because it was giving people Parkinson's so he stocked up on it to prove my mom wrong...

What's your personal little conspiracy theory?

I think that people being in overly light polluted areas for their entire lives is or at least is a major part of what's wrong with society these days.

When you go out at night and look at a sky completely filled with stars it makes you feel a certain way. Full of wonder, small, curious. Conversations always go in the "what if" or "what do you think about" sort of direction. It really puts you in your place in a strangely calm, thoughtful , and healthy way. And the more you can see, the better. If the Milky Way is visible it just puts you in awe.

People don't get to experience that very often, if at all, when they live in a populated area.

I think that is by design.

If you cannot just go outside and get that huge feeling of idk existential wonder, you're going to get hard coded into your personal fears and beliefs and all that whatnot. This drives the population apart. Meanwhile, all forms of light pollution measures are either deemed too expensive or just not enforced. At least in my area. And large amounts of the population live somewhat close to an airport. Never really gets dark at night near an airport...

Anyways that's my ted talk about how light bulbs are ripping society apart by its very fibers. Next up is how ceilings are a conspiracy to keep the poors underfoot if anyone wants to hear it.

My brother sent me this meme an hour ago... Problem is, he believes it... He is not very smart. He is the kind of person who thinks that the memes in wallstreetbets are some kind of conspiracy level of good advice because, and I quote, "They can't just go out and say it, that would be stock manipulation and possibly insider trading!"

I've been trying to convince him since that buying Tesla stock right now is a very, very bad idea. It's not a very good idea at all.

Emerging Psychedelic Mushroom Alternative More Toxic Than Fentanyl, New Research Suggests

Reply in thread

One wouldn't be too foolish to assume that a "psychedelic mushroom alternative" would be psychedelic. Fact of the matter is, these mushrooms are not even close to a psychedelic and to advertise them as such is scam levels of misleading.

Furthermore, lately amanitas are being proven very useful for benzo withdrawal and recovery. Now, I do not disagree with knowing everything about a substance and the science behind it... But come on! They're comparing it to fentanyl in the article! Things like that are only going to get them made illegal and stigmatized. This makes medical research harder to do and takes potential medicine away from the people who could actually use it!

Other than that, I was mostly just trying to give the people who clicked the thing some straight information. If they're clicking the thing they're likely already intrigued by it or psychedelics.

I wasn't particularly intending to attack the article in any way other than the premise set by the title. I personally really enjoy amanitas but their effects aren't exactly what most people are looking for.

Boeing strike: bosses bruised, blindsided and on brink of crisis

Reply in thread

  1. The 25% raise is actually a 13% raise then 4% more each year. This barely keeps up with the rate of inflation and isn't a real raise. They are also trying to increase the rate at which they cap out their pay.

  2. They are trying to fight the mandatory overtime which is understandable.

  3. Yes the pension they definitely want their pensions back.

  4. This is all about job security. They don't want Boeing to make a plant somewhere else where it'll be cheaper to pay the employees and such.

What is worse: Having your death covered in the tv show forensic files or in 1000 ways to die?

Reply in thread

My friends were the people injecting glow sticks... Arguably a pretty stupid way to die but this happened at an underage night club in the 00s. My friends who died were homeless children with abusive drug addicted families who either ran from the absolute failure of a foster care system that we have here, or just went straight to the streets knowing that they would end up in a worse situation if they were to seek help. Literally nowhere to go and willing to risk death for a little bit of approval.

My friends absolutely knew what they were doing was dangerous and could kill them... We all had known someone who died from doing exactly that... But when you've lived a life completely devoid of anything that resembles support the smallest positive reactions are like concentrated heroin.

It was fucked up seeing these kids who's desperate attempt to just be liked being turned into an entertainment piece. It's been a while but if I remember correctly the show left out that the people were minors so they could embellish on how dumb of a way to die it was... Or that children were being allowed to run around in a nightclub with glowing veins...

The whole thing was fucked, I never watched the show again. I realized that the whole thing is essentially just laughing at other people's trauma and that's not for me.
