Harvard Professor Warns That AI Execs Are Pushing World Toward Factory Farming of Humans
it feels like they tried to use every other word besides panopticon; which is wierd because it exactly describes what's happening.

Jeffrey Sachs: The War on Russia & Iran Is Breaking the West
i bet sachs is right about the western stagnation route; but it'll take a form like the diminished french empire -- where the west will still retain control for significant chunks of the global south in latin america and africa for centuries, like the french are doing.

How to immediately autodelete cookies in modern versions of Firefox?
To do this, I’ve used – for years – Cookie Autodelete. But I’ve discovered now that it doesn’t work with Firefox’s Strict Mode (the extension says “strict mode is not supported”).
fwiw, there are extensions out there that do the same things that strict mode does so it's possible to use them along with cookie autodelete -- that's why i do.

Ukraine's Terror Attacks Lay Bare Its Neo-Nazi Nature - Putin
Reply in thread
the american congress voted to stop weapons shipments to ukraine in 2018 once they realize we were giving weapons to neo-nazis that would use it to provoke russia -- this is a independently verifiable fact and you should ask yourself why you're almost a decade slower to know this than the american congress.

It's a brand new device that I used for the first time and I think it happened because I was logged into several other things at the same time to test it.
Instagram prompted me for the profile I wanted to use while in private mode and that was when I realized that I never provided the password.

How is linux on the Apple iMac 27” Retina 5K (2017)
I used fedora for a couple years on an Intel MacBook Air I found in the ewaste bin.
The camera was the only thing to give me any problems and they were easily fixed.
I spent a lot of time customizing it so that the Mac key combos would work but ultimately gave up, but I learned of a new distro that seems to do a better job at mimicing the Mac ui including the keyboard and I'd be curious to try in your shoes.

yes, it's not pleasan to watch people commit the same mistakes you've learned from for sure and:
I just don’t like if newcomers got shamed on and discredited not understanding what they are talking about.
it's definitely gotten better, but the old RTFM sentiment is still very strong in the linux community and there are too many that make it their entire identity.
