For the same reason they can't have elections. The war wasn't meant to be won it was meant to be continued

No elections, disrespecting public opinion, multiple corruption scandals, disappearing people into buses.

This is the "democracy" the West is defending?

Do we know for sure who is making maximalist demands? Talks were secret...

It would be nice to know what definition the poll utilized for victory, and what concessions would be acceptable for ending the war.

Polling conducted a month after yours also had "However, 75% believed a Russia-friendly plan that included Ukraine ceding territory or capping the size of its army without receiving clear security guarantees was "completely unacceptable".

So it seems that most want the war to end as soon as possible if under the right conditions.

Kinda the issue with polls all together, they are really just an indicator of what the pollster wants to project, rather than an accurate picture of public opinion as a whole.

From here.

I'm not claiming that there isn't political unrest, or that the vast majority of Ukraine wouldn't want to end the war. Just that the gallup poll was pretty vague, and when polls do that it's typically to push a narrative of some sort.

That narrative could very well accurately prortray the current public opinion, or it could be wishful thinking. My complaint was more aimed at the nature of polling, and how what questions you ask can wildly change outcomes.

The poll you posted is basically the same as the one they did in 2025. The attitudes did not change an appreciable amount. In fact, until you mentioned the relevancy of the date I thought it was the poll from 2025, as Ive seen that one previously.

Again....... I'm not trying to make any claims about what Ukrainian do or do not actually want. Just saying that determine that via polling is probably unlikely, especially when gallup does not show their methodology.

Right, the polls consistently show that there's a very strong opposition to the war in Ukraine. And, of course, polling alone can't give the full picture especially in a country that's been turned into a concentration camp where dissidents are busified and sent to the front. But the other factors such as the political unrest and protests despite the draconian measures taken by the regime are very telling.

Oh yeah, no one wants to be sent into the meat grinder. I just think that the poll is going to look quite different based on what concessions are on the table, especially if you are mainly polling in western Ukraine. Sunk cost fallacy is going to be harder to ignore, especially if you're further from the front.

The videos on social media of ordinary and random Ukrainians spontaneously joining together to fight the meat grinder's conscription officers fills my heart w hope for humanity.

Missing up to 1/9th of the total population in the poll and ignoring that there is no negotiations with someone that constantly ignores the terms of said efforts by actively bombing civilian population centers.

Obviously everyone wants an end, but your flavour text title paints a pretty tanky biasz

You reached the end

66% of Ukrainians want to seek negotiation and end the war as soon as possible. Why is it that nobody representing the majority in Ukraine is permitted to appear in Western media? | Spyke
