I'm sorry for grandma of course but I like the 21 dollars in silver coins, sovcit.

Basically, grandma bought a house, hasn't paid off the loan, and the house is foreclosed. He wants to buy the house (maybe with his Grandma's blessing) for the remainder of the loan amount. Because the "value" of the house, as determined by the market, is much higher than the amount remaining in the loan, he would have to pay taxes for acquiring a "gift" amount of the difference.

It's complicated because it gets into wealth transfer laws, and how taxes work in a particular system.

On one hand, generational wealth is a real problem because it lets the rich get richer down their lineage especially for the ultra wealthy, but on the other, if my parents want to give me a house that they paid for and own, why should the government be able to demand some 20k in taxes for my inheritance?

Eat lead

Reply in thread

Yeah, this post is not fully correct. The lead nail in the coffin is not that lead exists, it's that we find it in certain mineral matrixes that don't form with lead.

Zircon is the most widely referenced mineral in uranium-lead dating, as the mineral rejects lead during its formation, but will incorporate uranium. So when we find zircon with lead in it, it means that the uranium has decayed and turned into lead while being stuck there, and the percentage of uranium to lead in a sample lets us determine its time of formation.

Sure thing, website, my name is Gabe Newell

Websites don't have an actual check for a legit email... That's why they send confirmation links to click. Forms check that it ends with @something.something, sometimes they can add filters to not allow anything other than the 20 most popular domains. Or they can block addresses with less than 3 characters, because nobody real has those. But most forms you can keyboard smash [email protected]. They just might make a temp account until it's confirmed or something.

But [email protected] almost certainly was/is real.

Edit: looks like I was also incorrect!

Deleting my certified banger of a comment on WomensStuff because I respect the rule

I wasn't saying they are wrong, just that the community is getting exactly what it wants. Less contribution and visibility on an already small platform.

I commented on a post about putting lotion in a zip bag, and my comment was about putting mayo in a squeeze bottle. Not exactly gendered discourse.

Kind of like a community that only accepts input from say, black people. A question about favorite pizzas being thrown out because my username doesn't confirm I'm black, it's just a little weird.

I don't think that's true, it's more of a set problem. If you pull half the fuses, and the thing is still on, then you've ruled out that half. Then you pull half the remaining fuses, and if it turns off it was one of the new half you pulled. Then you put another half back in, ect .

New dishwasher video drop

Reply in thread

It's just a tips and how-to on how to make your dishwasher work best. Run the sink tap until hot before you start, use cheap powder or gel soap, make sure to use the dispenser and use a bit of soap in the prewash cycle. Great channel though, very deep dives into technology, primarily home goods or oddities.
