LegalEagle Suing PayPal's Honey
Glad he mentioned Honey/PayPal isn't the only one operating in this space. Capital One has been trying to push their program on me for quite some time.

Proton CEO embraces Trump for "standing up for the little guys"
Reply in thread
So sounds like their main concern is addressing the abuses of the FAANG monopolies, and only a Republican has talked to them about it.
I guess that is understandable in that very narrow lens, but it's a bit laughable considering how all the big tech companies are also cozying up to the Trump administration. All this has done for me is make me wary of anything Proton does now.

Lol and go where? From what I can tell, Canada has a housing crisis and is tilting right. Western Europe is already getting sick of immigrants and dealing with the far right.

South Korea President Yoon declares martial law
Yoon said he had no choice but to resort to such a measure in order to safeguard free and constitutional order, saying opposition parties have taken hostage of the parliamentary process to throw the country into a crisis.
Not very familiar with the political situation in Seoul, but saying your political opponents are supporting North Korea sounds like a pretty serious accusation.

Biden administration bans unpaid medical bills from appearing on credit reports
The CFPB said that medical debt is a poor predictor of an individual’s ability to repay a loan. Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, the three national credit reporting agencies, said last year that they were removing medical collections debt under $500 from U.S. consumer credit reports.
So even the credit reporting agencies are recognizing that medical debt isn't reflective of what the credit scores should be. Sounds like more evidence that there is a big problem with healthcare in this country.
Edit: I meant “credit reporting agencies” not “credit unions”

It's not about "minor discomfort." The Fediverse has too much UX friction for someone that isn't in tech/used to a product that isn't mature in features or content. Even if they are fine with that, they need to spend time to figure out what server(s) to trust, or at least an organization they can sue if things go wrong.
Ranting about "normies" instead of listening and understanding what their needs and concerns are is not conducive to growth, but it'll certainly help it decay.

New elections could take up to four years, Syria rebel leader says
Sharaa said Syria needed to rebuild its legal system and would have to hold a comprehensive population census to run legitimate elections.
A country with infrastructure torn up by war and people displaced from their homes. Sounds like a legitimate reason, but we'll see how things play out.

With respect to Japan, there's definitely a culture difference, but I don't think it's the consumerism/waste culture. There's so much excess packaging in Japanese food products.
