They're afraid!
So... The murder of a CEO of a horrible company leads to better conditions for everyone?
I would probably break a ton of rules on lemmy to suggest any further actions based on this result, so I'm not going to.
^But, you know...^

Path of least resistance
I have a hobby of doing the opposite: making undesirepaths.
During large snowfalls, I often need to bring out the shovel and make a path, both from my house and in front of it towards the main road. I like to add turns and bends, just enough to confuse and lightly annoy, but not enough for people to consider stepping into deep snow or making their own path.

If it's a firm cheese, you are probably fine. Where I'm from, it's pretty common knowledge that mold on regular firm cheese is pretty much contained within the visible spot and ~1-2 cm outwards from the spot. So cut away a decent chunk around the spot, and you'll probably be fine.
Disclaimer: I know nothing, I have no sources and I take no responsibility.

Here's how Luigi Mangione could go scot-free in the UnitedHealthcare CEO murder case
He should just get nominated to become presisent. Every penalty, accisation and conviction will go away - just like magic.

The justices of the supreme court ruled that Trump was immune and effectively above the law while being president. What is now stopping Biden from bringing a gun to the next debate?
Reply in thread
That sounds both crazy and not actually wildly far fetched. If the tables were turned and Trump was in the position of having the power to declare Biden's movement as an enemy and carry out violent ways to stop them, I would almost expect it to happen.

I might be the dumb one in this one, but HR asked me if I know "design patterns".
"I mean, yes, I know some design patterns. Any specific?"
"No, just if you are familiar with design patterns."
"I mean, there are builder, strategy, sigleton, factory etc. Is the question really not more specific?"
"My paper just asks if the dev is familiar with design patterns."
"Ok. Yes."

"We do things a little differently here!"
My experience:
"Oh, well, here you need to download an app, consent to everything the app wants to do and register with your phone number. Then you can order and walk to the kitchen to pick up the food you ordered. Also, leave a tip if you enjoyed the service."

Does each language have "lefty loosey righty tighty"?
I'm Norwegian. I never learned a rule in my language and always just went by instinct. Until ~3rd year of university in physics where someone told me tha the right-hand-rule applies to screws. Now I use that everywhere for screws in strange positions.

A lot of creators were tricked into that. The problematic part was that they realized the issue and completely went silent about the issue instead of raising awareness of the scam. Alerting about that fact would have been a great tech tip.

What's a skill that's taken for granted where you live, but is often missing in people moving there from abroad?
Norway.
Cross country skiing. It's basically expected for every kid in school to be adaquate at cross country skiing. P. E. classes during winter could often consist of a ski trip, and a couple times per year the schools would arrange ski days with different acrivities on skis.

Double Standards
Can we take a second to appreciate that those hands were drawn very well? Like, most times I draw a hand, it just ends up looking like a stupid blob, but this poster has gotten the shape and proportions pretty decently. And not just once, but twice. Good.

What is your least favourite acronym?
Norway has a weird obsession with making translated acronyms for well established terms. Lately, after many years of use of "AI", the Language Council decided that the term should be changed to "KI", as that is the "correct" Norwegian acronym. Not only does it feel wrong to say, but it invades another local acronym for me.
To top it of, that council decided to make "KI-generated" the "word of the year", which seems like a pat on their own shoulder to brilliantly making the acronym.
I hate it.

Trump claims he didn’t have ‘fair notice’ that Georgia actions could be illegal
After getting caught in a bank robbery, stealing thousands of dollars and traumatizing bystanders, the robber can just say: "No one gave me a fair notice this was illegal"
Is that pretty much the level of this claim?

They'd go outside more if they could WALK anywhere

I live in Norway. Growing up, some days in school were reserved for diverse activities. Some of my friends and I decided to bike to the swimming park in the city ~20 miles away. We didn't have to bike on car roads at all to get there, as bike lanes and good side paths lead us the whole way. Being able to get anywhere with a bike at the age of 14 is an amazing level of freedom.
