Just like that

I wish. Actually I've seen some bitching turning the drop in democratic votes as "clear evidence" of 2020 cheating. That and conspiracy theories because Biden has been incredibly sharper after the debate (as in it was a conspiracy to take him out). It's hard to fight to not live in a bubble but holy crap the trumpettes and russian bots are very annoying.

This is going to be a long 4 years, so only posts about factual things happening or have happened.

I was actually wondering if there's a news outlet that would do that but another extra step: filter what Trump and others say. e.g. the whole Gulf of Mexico/Greenland/Canada BS. I don't want to read about everything he says because most is just trolling and leads to nothing. And that's basically what news sources were on the first term. I'd rather read only if/when becomes something real, e.g, "Canada imposes sanctions on US due Trump's statements of anexing Canada".

Both sides!

That I think it's the scariest thing we have right now: a lot of people that forgot we need to live together and trying to shove your ideology down others throats is not the way to go, no matter how right one believes to be.

Pim Tool is a moron

I know personally 3 people, 2 from work, one neighbor closely. Reasonable, pro equality in all fronts and not MAGA. We still don't agree on abortion (none of them want to ban abortion), guns (none think we should hand AR15s to anyone), how big the government should be. They don't like Trump, but don't want democrats. The "ALL republicans are racist/sexist" is absurd and that's what my last comments are about. While people on both sides demonize and make assumptions on the other side, this divide will keep getting bigger.

[SOLVED] Need help for setting up a VPN project

Reply in thread

If all traffic is going through your homelab you can make the vpn clients use a vpn specific DNS server or the one suggested with resolving per origin, you then make the external names to your services to resolve to the servsrs' internal IP addresses, avoiding going out. Another way is to add rules to your gateway to redirect internal traffic going to your external IP addresses to DNAT to the internal addresses but in order for that to work you need to masquerade them which means server logs will have gateway's IP.

But don't say it out loud

Reply in thread

I believe the same. Want it or not, Trump has the charisma that nobody else in the party does. And the luck. My only hope to stop the madness was to have Trump losing the election then dropping dead by natural causes after. That'd be safest way to take all his followers out of the spell. I really don't see any other way for his cult to end. Then the right wing extremists go back to hate in their closets and, if democrats are smart, keep having more moderate candidates like Biden and reign the extreme left as well.

Anon prefers Frameworks over Thinkpads

Something some thinkpad users value a lot is the trackpoint. I'm seriously considering breaking a 4 thinkpad (3 X2x0, one X1 carbon) spree with a 13" framework but not having trackpoint is a big issue for me. I'm using the fact my X1 is still fast enough for my use to wait and hope for framework to get a trackpoint. There're more people in the same boat in framework's forums.

Bambu Lab Firmware Update Forces Cloud Dependency & User Lock-In - AVOID THEIR 3D PRINTERS!

Reply in thread

To comment on one of your points, something that gets lost when people learn about open source (at least most traditional licenses): nobody can change the license of something that was released so you have the option to fix it yourself or hire someone else to do it for you. While it's incredibly powerful thing to have, many people only look at open source as "free (as in beer) stuff with free support". Thing is, even if there's no chance in earth you'll fix it yourself, it's likely someone out there who's in the same situation will do it and make available for others. Key here is having popular and open enough hardware that people can replace or the software completely or keep its development (if open).

As open source printers go, you can always use the parts to convert it to a different printer but that requires tinkering. Perhaps this move will piss off enough some Bambu users that they'll make the switch away from the "I just want something that works" mindset into tinkers.

3D printing sites should require a printed model when uploading a design.

You can always not use those sites and/or only print the ones that have picture and ignore the others. People are offering hours if their work for free (including a bunch of prototypes and wasted plastic you never see), including licensing them sometimes very generously, and you come complaining that there isn't a picture? If you can't look at a model you won't be able to tell if the uploaded pictures are from the same version of the model uploaded.

how do ypu protect your door?

I'd say PPF but it won't do a lot depending how the scratches happen. I myself gave up hope and humanity and park as far as I can from everybody, preferably in a corner where you keep one of the sides protected, parking as close as possible to that side to give as much room as possible from the exposed side. Just be careful to not scratch your wheels.

Epstein Has Mixed Up Maga

It's very interesting the timing though. Right after the bill. Has control of everything in the government to just pretend that "they're still working" on it instead of making a final determination on the case. Defends Bondi publically instead of blaming someone like usual. Releases footage with timetamps with a minute missing. Fox didn't fall in line and stirred the pot. I read someone with an interesting theory that looks like a way to blackmail people in the list to pay to not show up in a future list by showing the pressure they're under to release anything which it'd be something easily dismissed under "traditional" presidents. Has control enough that he could show up with a ton of enemies in said list and his cult would swallow it. Is playing with and regulating crypto. This whole thing sounds very fishy.
