I'm new to Lemmy, and had just gotten "into" r/NCD over the last year.

I'm sure I'll probably skim NCD for the memes, but I'm seriously impressed with Lemmy. I hope this portends good things for the future.

I'm kind of a n00b as a shitposter though, i've got a lot of miltary history to read through. The NCD community has provided (no matter where they are hosted) literally some of the best 'hidden history' lessons I've ever encountered. I seriously hope Lemmy is adopted as a legitimate alternative.

**Eisenhower CSG has entered the chat**

Sauce: Osinttechnical

"New announcement from the DOD this evening, in response to “recent escalations by Iran and its proxy forces across the Middle East Region”, the US will deploy the Eisenhower CSG to the CENTCOM AOR, along with an additional THAAD ABM battery and PATRIOT SAM battalions."

Also: please enjoy my absolute awful first attempt at animated gif memeing. "Yes it's bad, and indeed I feel bad, Rear Admiral Zoidberg..." (Warning: Possibly seizure-inducing)

"Unidentified"? More like "Don't ask, don't tell"

It's okay to be 'wrong' in science within the observable world, much of Newton's theories were rendered nearly obsolete by Einstein, but Newtonian physics was "good enough" until technology improved, and was "good enough" for most of his generation and later:

"While general relativity has been more precise, Newtonian gravity is still incredibly accurate and can be used for simpler situations. General relativity uses complex calculus that makes it difficult to compute. But Einstein has opened up the world to more complex physics, like black holes and gravitational waves that continue to develop our understanding of the universe. Epistemology allows for us to work within the framework of knowledge we currently have until something better is proven to be the case.
