YSK: you can setup pihole on any old rooted android (5.0+) device

I just discovered this and it works fantastically on any old / unused android device you might have lying around, I was shocked at how easy it was, all the instructions are there, once you have it running all you need to do is set your router DNS settings to your pihole IP address and presto! Ads and trackers are gone!

praise!

Just want to thank the devs for all of their hard work, there are so many Lemmy apps available now and some of them are pretty nice but at the end of the day I just love Jerboa for it's functionality, income is a little tight for me just at the moment but I'll definitely be donating in the next few weeks when I can

THANK YOU!

what messaging app do you use?

So here's the thing, every time I try to move away from Facebook messenger I run into the same problem, nobody else in my friends or family actually want to use a secure, private messenger app like signal or telegram, my wife, my parents, my in-laws, my friends they're ALL on Facebook and they will never take signal seriously enough to actually use it, it really bums me out that there are these far superior options but without anyone else using them they're pointless..

Anyway what apps do you use to stay in touch with people?

what is r/place?

There's been a lot of controversy lately surrounding the protest actions over on r/place but having never been there myself I don't understand what the purpose of the subreddit was originally, or why protesting users chose that specific subreddit to utilize, a breif explanation would be much appreciated ✌️

wtf is nostr?

So no question I've been enjoying lemmy, I love the freedom it offers and I love the seemingly simple and elegant framework it runs on however after having ditched Reddit for the hopes of a similar or improved content experience I have to say it is quite a bit smaller and therefore barren at times which is both a good and bad thing depending on your needs

And then of course there's kbin and masterdon which from my understanding is a little more geared towards the twitter-like micro blogging

But this morning somehow I stumbled across nostr which I have never heard of but I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with it? There's a Web app like voyager at iris.to that makes browsing pretty simple..

.. turns out these choko things are bloody good! 😀

I didn't know what the they where but somebody gave me some and I just peeled it, cut it up and steamed it, but you could totally throw this into all sorts of casseroles, soups, roasts or hangi it's really nice! Not too strong of a flavour kind of like a potato with a celery-like tinge, 10/10 will have more often 😂

Update: apparently they turn to mush if you roast them
