Not The Onion

If I have to pass a yearly exam to prove that I am not in some form of cognitive decline just to have the same rule apply to every other person, including politicians, then I'm all for it. Same goes for driver's licenses. My grandmother, who is 91, just renewed last year. She told me over the phone, "This will probably be the last time I ever have to do that," and I just thought, "I sure fucking hope so." I'm not against older people doing what they want to do, but reality and safety have to come into play at some point. People break down as they age. I'm dealing with it now, and I will continue as I get older. I have no illusions about it. The feeling that you are entitled to whatever you want regardless of the safety of others is something that we as humans need to drop, or it's gonna be the end of us, as evidenced by the current state of politics.

To everyone who went to school before the heliocentric model was introduced, do you remember anyone talking about how they thought the Earth may not be the center of the galaxy? No.. Me neither.

Obviously, I can't confirm this 100%, but based on what he's said in interviews, I believe he has gone through a similar shift in views that I went through on my journey to Atheism, though he hasn't made the turn yet. I believe that he is having trouble reconciling his beliefs with his morals. He has publicly stated that he supports Roe v Wade, so I think he is on the right track. While I totally understand and support not wanting to give your money or clicks to a piece of shit, I also think that if some people are on the cusp of change, it only hurts the cause if we shove them away for their past. Again, I don't know his mind, and I'm just going on my own personal experience, but these are my feelings on the matter.

U.S. Knew Saudis Were Killing African Migrants

Can you imagine the alternate headline of "US sends peace keeping force to Saudi Arabia to protect African migrants"? That's a sociopolitical minefield if there ever was one. I'm sure that if the US knew, so did most everyone else, and there weren't any other countries lining up to help. SA isn't known for being a clandestine government, more of a "What are you gonna do about it, buy more oil?" kind of operation. The US is damned if we do, damned if we don't. Step in and its Team America World Police, don't do anything and we are standing by letting genocidal governments kill nations.

*Permanently Deleted*

I'd like to add Luke 4:23 as well as John 8:7. I've looked, but I can't find the one that says it's ok for the clergy to sexually assault minors, but it's gotta be in there, right? Maybe it was on the stone tablet that Moses broke, and it didn't get CC'd onto the new ones? Or maybe Mary Magdelene scribed it from wine-drunk Jesus while he was hanging out with the homies in Galgotha?

'Tis was a twist

Totally tickled to the tips of my transistors, I'm thunderstruck that such a tech titan tirelessly tracks, tabulates, and teases out 'T's throughout the tumultuous tide of typewritten text, truly transforming our understanding of technological temerity!

lemmynsfw.com has been defederated

There is a stark contrast between fetishizing body parts and fetishizing underage people. Calling it "shitty" is an understatement by several orders of magnitude. If you are attracted to someone because they look underage, I'd have to question your moral judgement when it comes to the real thing. People aren't known for making wise choices when under the influence of hormones, and I think that the venn diagram of pseudo-pedos and real ones may overlap a lot more than you seem to want to accept.

I am all for blocking this instance and defederating it. If someone wants to ride that line, they know that address, but now they have to type it into their browser instead of hoping those images show up in their feed.
