FBI says it's now seized "multiple" ROM piracy sites, claims downloads resulted in $170m losses in just three months

Reply in thread

One of the pirate party guys made a Raspberry pi doohickey that did exactly that to show how stupid these calculations are. It constantly downloaded to a null device, or moved it to a null device once compete so the file never existed except incredibly briefly. I think it also tracked how many times it was downloaded so the "cost" could be calculated.

The perfect job exists.

Per fine, not report. So there's the "did they actually get fined" portion of it. But still, That's a nice bonus if only one report goes through a week, for maybe an extra hour of time spent if you regularly bike commute, walk, etc.

Minimum specs

Fuckin' a man. My backup server uses 70mb of ram, My NAS, 250mb. My laptop, about 1GB doing normal usage things. Open up one webpage with a YouTube video embedded and the processor constantly runs all 4 cores at 30%+, fan is on high, 3GB ram getting eaten away at for a paused video and text. It's ridiculous.

'Very telling': Trump agency under fire after posting Russian flag on Flag Day

Reply in thread

The question I'm constantly asking myself, is this incompetence or Russian influence?

The answer I usually come up with is "probably both".

I see the design choice since the background is blue. But the answer is you change the background or separate the flag colors from it. You don't go transparent because the background is the color you want. It's a separate thing and it's always red-white-blue. This is like wearing a green tie if you're a weather person, except they're usually competent and do it on purpose.

Wholesome ending and probably a great laugh !

The amount of correcting I've had to do and clarifications I've needed to get/give from/to an elementary school kid, from their sheer lack of knowing what the fuck is going on around them at all times, tells me that no, we don't need more kids trolling adults. They do it naturally and constantly.

It's fucking hilarious most times, though.

LibreOffice backs campaign to help users move from Windows 10 to Linux – and ditch Office, too

Reply in thread

Collabora isn't libreoffice, they contribute to the development of libreoffice, but they are a separate entity. As far as I've seen, collabora works more toward collaboration on documents and online stuff rather than the function of the office suite...While also being the largest contributor to libreoffice.

It's not really worth anyone's time to argue about the difference, though. I already feel like I'm making the GNU/Linux stallman statement.
